[Finale] Files missing from list
Hi Folks, I always save Finale files to the same folder. When I want to open a file from within Finale all my files are listed. However, when I use Window Explorer to open the folder not all the files are there. In particular, no files from the last month or so are there, although there are others missing from the list too. I can open all these files from within Finale with no problem. It's as though there is some kind of filter on my WE file list but to the best of my knowledge I have never setup such a filter nor can I find any. Has anybody any ideas please? TLI -- too little information. Not sure what you want to do. I know in WE preference there is something called PROGRAM where you can specify what program extensions WE is supposed to be able to recognize and associate to. Best I got. Hi, Not sure what more information you need - more information needed :-) I'm using Finale 2012 on Windows 7. I want to see all my finale files listed in Windows Explorer - only some of them are there. It's nothing to do with the extension I don't think otherwise none of them would be listed. [Finale] Multimeas Rests with cue staves
I am working on a piece where I want to show part of some of the other staves as cue lines, but only in certain sections of the piece. I know how to hide the parts that I don't want using Force Hide (Collapse) staff styles, but I can't get it to make multimeas rests. The only solution I can think of is to duplicate the staves I want to use as cues, but that defeats the whole purpose. I might as well duplicate the file. Re: [Finale] Multimeas Rests with cue staves
Darcy, I remembered this after I posted, but it still doesn't help because my cue staves are complex keyboard staves with lots of use of multiple layers. Unfortunately the Blank Notation with Rests applies only to one layer. What I have discovered is that if I can but get the multimeas rest created it will work (even without the Blank Notation style). Jari has sent me a sample script that I can probably modify to do it. If anyone is interested I'll share if I can get it working. Re: [Finale] Files missing from list
Thanks David, Been there, done that etc. I've also tried creating a new folder and adding files to that - all of them are visible in Finale and can be opened, none of them are visible in WE. I've tried changing the options in WE and that makes no difference. I'm really at a loss to find an explanation. Although I can open the files from within Finale, the problem came to light when I needed to move some recent files to a USB stick in order to work on them on my laptop. I finished up having to open Finale, open the files, Save As etc etc which took about twenty times as long as simply dragging them in WE. I'd be grateful for anything to try! Re: [Finale] ***POSSIBLE SPAM***(6.1) Files missing from list
Lawrence: If you've not examined the file properties in the properties dialog, that might be worth a try. From Finale, and one of the files you can't see in WE, and select the save-as option from the file menu. Left click on the filename in the save-as window, and open the properties dialog at the bottom of the pop-up menu. My best guess, based upon what I remember from a similar issue some years, and a couple OS versions ago, is that you may have somehow gotten the hidden file attribute set on those files. The way I managed this was that I somehow got the hidden attribute set on the file I used as a template, and the attribute stayed set when I saved daughter files. ns ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu
Re: [Finale] ***POSSIBLE SPAM***(6.1) Files missing from list
Hi Noel, Thanks - just tried your suggestion - the file is not marked hidden. I also earlier tried checking the show hidden files box in WE but that didn't work either. I suspect that it's a Windows problem rather than Finale. I'd hoped that someone on here might have had the same problem and that it would be something really obvious that I was missing. Re: [Finale] Files missing from list
Hi Gerald, Thanks for the suggestion. The point is that I should be able to see all the files when I use WE. There are ways round it and I can move the files by opening up Finale but I shouldn't have to: there's clearly something going wrong. At first I thought the problem was in Finale, maybe in the way it was saving the files but it's looking more and more as though it's Windows.
