[Finale] How to remove Patterson stem changes? (please please)
Hi all, Finishing up a document, and ran Patterson beams/stems on it, then made zillions of minor adjustments -- AFTERWARDS noticing the percussion staff had all its stems changed (upstems shorter, downstems longer). According to the docs, I ran it again on that staff with remove checked under French beams, which is supposed to remove all adjustments made by the plugin. No change. I don't find a utility or plugin to remove stem adjustments (which in this case also affects all beams). This thing is due in the next few hours, and I have 269 measures of screwed up percussion that I'd prefer not to reset by hand. Anybody? Thanks, Dennis ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu https://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale To unsubscribe from finale send a message to: finale-unsubscr...@shsu.edu

Thanks, John. I thought I'd seen that somewhere ... after all these years, I still struggle to find where things are (edit, utilities, plugins, document, preferences...) Only 8 or 9 bars – Violin II into Violin I, forming a divisi. Finale and my OS are both 64 bit. I 'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, with 16 GB ram. The .musx file swelled to a whopping 1.2 Mb after the implode operation and I can't do anything with the file without crashing the program. Kind of like when you say to the doctor, Doctor, it hurts when I do this, and he replies, Well, don't it. I stopped using the implode music feature because it hung up the program. I tried to implode 8 measures of music from two staves into one, choosing the option to combine them in the top staff. The two staves combined, all right, but then I had to look at the spinning Wheel of Misfortune for fifteen minutes before I could do anything else. Then, as soon as I select any action, the wheel returns, and I have to wait for another long period. Obviously Finale is using a lot of memory - I have 16 GB of RAM, and Task Manager shows that 62% is being used, with nothing else running in the background. Finally, I get a Finale is not responding message, and I end up closing the program and losing my work. Any suggestions? Trying 2014b and finding some of the bugs are now fixed - some playback bugs and erratic scrolling, for example. But I am still suffering with the minuscule tool pallet. I can't be the only one who misses the old choices. I do understand that minimizing the size has to do with folks who use Finale on laptops, but that lack of choice irritates me. My eyesight is not bad but it's still a lot harder to locate tools in 2014 than it used to be in previous versions. Wow, sorry to hear that. I'm not a seasoned programmer but it sounds like a coding problem somewhere in the program. Call support is my only suggestion. Re: [Finale] Finale 2014B
Despite proclaiming Numerous crashing situations have been fixed, Finale 2014b is still crashing when I use Transcribe! This happens reliably several times a sesssion. If it doesn't crash, playback doesn't work when I press the spacebar and click the score. Restarting Finale fixes this temporarily, till the next crash. Maybe they fixed this on the Mac side: Many audio-related crashes have been fixed and USB mono input devices no longer cause errors. This fix doesn't appear on the Windows highlights. I guess I'll have to wait till Finale 2014c, or pay another $100+ and hope it's fixed in Finale 2015. And yes, I did submit this problem (again), but have little hope of resolution. Re: [Finale] Finale 2014B
Not sure about this on the Mac side, but after working in 2014b for a few hours, I find that there are still scrolling anomalies (clicking in the scroll bar jumps more than one window - often to the beginning or end of the document, and SmartScroll - a useful app that works well in 2012 is buggy in 2014). Also, redraw problems remain - if a rehearsal letter is displaced and you restore it to default position, it doesn't redraw until you force a redraw. Still buggy and annoying. Somewhat pissed off.
