[Finale] How to remove Patterson stem changes? (please please)

2014-06-03 Thread Dennis Bathory-Kitsz
Hi all,

Finishing up a document, and ran Patterson beams/stems on it, then made
zillions of minor adjustments -- AFTERWARDS noticing the percussion staff had
all its stems changed (upstems shorter, downstems longer).

According to the docs, I ran it again on that staff with remove checked
under French beams, which is supposed to remove all adjustments made by the
plugin. No change.

I don't find a utility or plugin to remove stem adjustments (which in this
case also affects all beams).

This thing is due in the next few hours, and I have 269 measures of screwed up
percussion that I'd prefer not to reset by hand.

Anybody?

Thanks,
Dennis

Thanks, John. I thought I'd seen that somewhere ... after all these years, I
still struggle to find where things are (edit, utilities, plugins, document,

Re: [Finale] Interminable delays when imploding music (Finale 2014 Windows)

2014-06-03 Thread Steven Larsen
Only 8 or 9 bars – Violin II into Violin I, forming a divisi. Finale and my OS
are both 64 bit. I 'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, with 16 GB ram. The
.musx file swelled to a whopping 1.2 Mb after the implode operation and I can't
do anything with the file without crashing the program.

How many bars are you shrinking ?
Is Finale 64 bit and your OS 64 ?
If not Finale is not using 12 of the 16
and writing temp files
That's a lot if memory usage

Just encountered a problem that I've experienced before but forgot about.
Kind of like when you say to the doctor, Doctor, it hurts when I do this, and
he replies, Well, don't it. I stopped using the implode music
feature because it hung up the program.

I tried to implode 8 measures of music from two staves into one, choosing the
option to combine them in the top staff. The two staves combined, all right,
but then I had to look at the spinning Wheel of Misfortune for fifteen minutes
before I could do anything else. Then, as soon as I select any action, the
wheel returns, and I have to wait for another long period.
Obviously Finale is using a lot of memory - I have 16 GB of RAM, and Task
Manager shows that 62% is being used, with nothing else running in the
background. Finally, I get a Finale is not responding message, and I end up
closing the program and losing my work.

Any suggestions?

when an iMic is connected to your Mac.

•  Finale no longer crashes on launch if a running DAW
application does not have the default audio device set

to a sample rate of 44.1 kHz.

computer's Components folder.

Bookmarks

•  Deleting the last bookmark in a document no longer causes
the Edit Bookmarks dialog box to become unresponsive.

•  Clicking Delete in the Edit Bookmarks dialog box now
deletes the selected bookmark instead of the last bookmark in the list.

Chord Symbols

 Roman-equivalent font characters are now displayed correctly in chord symbols.

Combined Accidentals and Rests

•  Combined rests are no longer split when edited with the
Note Position tool.

•  You can now reposition rests when the Consolidate Rests
Across Layers option is enabled.

files.

•  File saving speed has been improved.

•  All pages now appear without choosing Update Layout for some
pre-2011 documents with optimized staves.

•  Enigma -200 errors have been replaced with more specific
messages for diagnostic purposes.

Fonts and Annotation

•  Automatic font annotation now creates accurate bounding boxes for
all characters.

•  The arrow buttons for character selection in the Font Annotation
dialog box now function correctly.

•  The font preview no longer exceeds the size of the Font dialog box.

•  Characters chosen in the Symbol Selection dialog box now appear
correctly in symbol text fields.

Graphics

 TIFF previews in EPS files now display when re-imported into Finale. Grids
and Guides

 Finale no longer crashes when you delete or move a guide with multiple
documents open.

Human Playback

•  The techniques for brass instruments in Human Playback Preferences
now function correctly.

•  Human Playback correctly interprets altered trills entered as
articulations.

•  Keyswitches are now triggered via Human Playback in all layers.

•  Choosing to skip Human Playback processing no longer attempts to
close the active document.

•  Glissandi are correctly interpreted by Human Playback on all
layers.

•  Human Playback correctly interprets fp dynamic markings.

•  The bottom staff of a two-staff instrument no longer plays back
louder than the top staff following a hairpin

when Human Playback is turned on.

HyperScribe

 Tied rhythms are correctly transcribed when using HyperScribe.

2014-06-03 Thread Chuck Israels
Trying 2014b and finding some of the bugs are now fixed - some playback bugs
and erratic scrolling, for example. But I am still suffering with the
minuscule tool pallet. I can't be the only one who misses the old choices. I
do understand that minimizing the size has to do with folks who use Finale on
laptops, but that lack of choice irritates me. My eyesight is not bad but it's
still a lot harder to locate tools in 2014 than it used to be in previous
versions.

coding problem somewhere in the program.  Call support is my only suggestion.

2014-06-03 Thread Girard Bowe
Despite proclaiming Numerous crashing situations have been fixed, Finale
2014b is still crashing when I use Transcribe! This happens reliably several
times a sesssion. If it doesn't crash, playback doesn't work when I press
the spacebar and click the score. Restarting Finale fixes this temporarily,
till the next crash.

Maybe they fixed this on the Mac side: Many audio-related crashes have been
fixed and USB mono input devices no longer cause errors. This fix doesn't
appear on the Windows highlights.

I guess I'll have to wait till Finale 2014c, or pay another $100+ and hope
it's fixed in Finale 2015.

And yes, I did submit this problem (again), but have little hope of
resolution.

2014-06-03 Thread Chuck Israels
Not sure about this on the Mac side, but after working in 2014b for a few
hours, I find that there are still scrolling anomalies (clicking in the scroll
bar jumps more than one window - often to the beginning or end of the document,
and SmartScroll - a useful app that works well in 2012 is buggy in 2014).
Also, redraw problems remain - if a rehearsal letter is displaced and you
restore it to default position, it doesn't redraw until you force a redraw.

Still buggy and annoying.

Somewhat pissed off.
