Huh, that is what a google search brought up. I'd say if it works in 10.9 it will work in later. If you google it I see drivers for it. It's also in library/printers/ as well. It's fine to put that Java on the Mac. That version is only used for runtime programs. The "web" version, or rather, the one that gets run in your browser is the one you need to worry about. And you can have both this Java 6 version and the latest oracle Java 8 on your Mac and your web browser should use the later Java 8. Having Java 6 installed for programs like finale to use isn't going to get you hacked or anything.
