Re: [Finale] Folders

2015-03-26 Thread Christopher Smith
Most likely you have a multi measure rest that was previously created and
hasn't been updated now that there is material in those measures. Select All
with the Selection Tool, go to the Edit Menu>Mulitmeasure Rests>Break or Create
(both will cause the missing measures to appear).

If you don't have Update Layout Automatically clicked in your Program Options,
then you will have to Update Layout manually (cmd-U on Mac, probably ctl-U in
Windows) after doing this. A recent bug is that this option becomes randomly
unchecked with no input from the user.

Re: [Finale] Folders

2015-03-25 Thread David Woodard
I am sure some capable Window's 8.1 guru's could solve that for us, but I
don't have the bucks to go asking. After months of loosing files with my
new 8.1 computer, I can finally find my way back to the same file folders
by starting to save the desktop more and not have such deep file folder
systems. During Spring Break, I hope to back up on my Google Drive and One
Drive systems that both Google and Microsoft provide for free, as I lost
lots of musical sweat and toil saved from Windows XP system to Mac system
to 8.0 & 8.1 during the last 6 or more years with one drop of my laptop
down a stairway. The Great thing I am finding as I recreate exercises that
I sought to create since 1987 when I started this Journey with Wenger Music
Writer, is that at long-last, my Finale skills are getting competent to the
point that I can solve most problems with work-a-rounds instead of quitting
in frustration for weeks, months or years until desperation drives me back
to the Software.

Now that I am teaching Chorus with poor piano skills, I can put up both
parts and accompaniments on the smartboard and teach what I cannot play,
while finally figuring out how to teach and learn solfege/takadimi at the
same time. Now if I can just figure out how to hook up a good sound system
and SmartBoard to my computer at the simultaneously.

Lawrence - do you know you can open many files simultaneously? Just
highlight all the ones you need when you're opening a file. I do it very
often when I'm making minor changes to a score and set of parts (I still use
Fin2005). Then you can save each file one by one in the folder that Windows
remembers.

There is a FinaleScript that will print a folder of files in a single

[Finale] Folders

2015-03-24 Thread Lawrence Yates
Please, please can someone help me -

How can I set finale so that it goes back to the last folder opened rather
than the last folder I saved to?

It's driving me mad! On my old computer it worked exactly how I wanted it,
on this new one it defaults back to the last folder I saved to.

It may not be a Finale problem, it may be something to do with Windows 8,
but whatever, can anyone help me?

Please,

Lawrence

Re: [Finale] Folders

2014-12-01 Thread David H. Bailey
With my installation of Finale2012 on my Windows 8.1 computer the Open
dialog always goes back to the most recently opened folder unless I quit
Finale and restart it.

How do you have your preferences set for the default music folder?

I don't know if that would help at all.

I haven't changed any settings in Windows and I have Finale2012 set to
go to the same default music folder (under which I store folders for
each different project, sometimes nested as you're describing) as I have
always done ever since I started using Finale back with version 3.5.

Sorry I can't offer better help than than.

[Finale] Folders

2014-11-30 Thread Lawrence Yates
I'm using Finale 2012 on Windows 8

I'm not sure if this is a Windows problem or Finale:

Let's say my file structure is "Finale" "Pieces" "Horn Quartet" "Christmas"
(I've actually shortened this list here).

If I open a file from the Christmas folder then try to open another file,
the "open" list goes back to "Finale" so every time I want to open another
file from the "Christmas" folder I have to go through the rigmarole of
going through the whole sequence.

It was not like this on my previous computer (Windows XP) - there the
"open" list went to the last folder I'd opened, which is what I want it to
do.

Is there anything I can do to get the old behaviour back?

Thanks,

Lawrence
