Re: [Finale] OSX links down

Hello,
If trashing the preferences and repairing permissions (running disk
utility) doesn't fix the problem, you may also try running a program
called Disk Warrior. This program will repair the directory on your
computer (technically it actually builds a new directory and replaces
the old one that contained the errors.)

I have been using this program for several years for both repair and
maintenance and have had great success with it. Here is the link:
http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/

Best,
Karen

I cannot find out how (in the terms of OS9) figure out how to
rebuild the desktop. After several attempts to re-load MACFIN
2005, the application still cannot find its various text files and
soundfonts, though they are exactly where they should be. The older
practice was the desktop rebuild which one could force on restart. I
have had several security updates come in, and I notice that there
is a type of rebuild at its completion.

Is there a way to force OSX to re-establish the links that may have been lost?

You can also try running fsck.
Reboot your mac and hold down the Apple and S keys. That will bring you
into a shell, and it should say how to run fsck when you get into the shell.

Henry,
Have you tried deleting your Finale 2005 preferences? I doubt that any
links are lost (although you should try booting from your OS X
install CD and running Disk Utility regardless). I think it's much
more likely that Finale's preferences are corrupt.
