[Finale] Re: 2006 Mass Edit delay

2005-08-02 Thread Chuck Israels
This is just to report that I am not experiencing the Mass Edit delay
in any significant way on a G5 1.8 w/3.5 GB of RAM and OS 10.4.

There is a split second hesitation as the highlighting fills in when
selecting a group of measures with either a shift click or selecting
with the mouse - just a little, and nothing that would slow me down.
I'd prefer it if the slight delay weren't there, but it's really an
insignificant amount on my system. I have only tried it on a
relatively small document - 2 pages of piano music. Perhaps it
becomes more annoying as the document size increases?

I report this in the hope that it helps isolate a problem that I have
no doubt others are experiencing.

From MacSupport:

I am not sure exactly what you are describing with regard to a delay in
selecting measures with the Mass Edit tool. I am running on an emac
1.25Ghz processor with 1 GB of RAM and I do not experience this (I click
in one measure, hold down shift, click in another measure, and they are
all selected instantaneously as far as my eyes can tell).

Wow. So, a slower eMac doesn't have the problem that my Mac Mini does?
Wow. This is messed up.

drag-selecting a region in Page View.

Good eye! However, I still see a *bit* of lag in Scroll View and
Studio View... but, as you say, the most noticeable problem is in Page
View. Also, I have noticed that the problem is dragging in general and
not just drag-selecting. Dragging expressions, text blocks, graphics,
etc., are all plagued by the same lag problem as drag-selecting.
