numbering was intact (obviously i know i could change this manually). 
i found it useful, when i want to go to whatever page in the score,

Much easier in my opinion is just to print the desired pages to a .pdf

example, the 3rd movement of a multi-movement file into its own separate
Finale file, preserving layout? Basically, the opposite of ScoreMerger...

Make a copy of the document and rename it adequately.

Delete all measures before and after the desired movement.

Deleting measures (using the Edit menu) will mess up the layout. You should be 
able to preserve the layout of the movement if you delete staff Systems with 
the Page Layout Tool.

Preview is great for combining/splitting PDFs. What I am doing however is a
one-off version with a reduced instrumentation, so the PDF doesn't work.
Deleting systems is probably gonna be the way to go for me. At least I'm
gonna try it when the time comes.
