This only works for rests you've entered yourself, not for the default whole measure rest that's there when you start out. But in that case you can use a staff style to hide the rest. Mark Blumberg wrote: Hi group, Is there any way to totally hide rests in a chord staff (layer) so that the "ghosts" do not show through slashes? Are you talking about on-screen, or do they print that way? If it's on-screen, you can change the shading on hidden items so they're actually invisible, but even if you can see them on-screen, they still won't print. A couple of versions ago MakeMusic added this shading feature because if you have a lot of hidden items, you can easily forget what they are and where they are. The changing of the shading, though, affects ALL hidden objects, not just one "class" of them so it's an either/or situation. Personally, I like this feature, since it goes a long way to help my brain which increasingly can't remember details like what items I hid in my Finale scores. -- David H.
