Thanks for taking the time and trouble. This has me baffled. Changing the 
notation font from Maestro to Petrucci and then including the font produces a 
readable eps in Illustrator. There seems to be an issue with the maestro font. 
I wonder if there is another font on the PC's that I use with the same id, thus 
confusing Illustrator. When I get time I'll try deinstalling the Maestro fonts 
and see if it helps to reintall them.
