Re: [Finale] Kontakt 4

Dear Dennis,

I have little experience and minimal knowledge, but I can tell you that the
Kontakt Player can use Garritan samples. There was a time that this software
was necessary in order to load Garritan sounds. Now Garritan has the Aria
Player to do the same job more simply and easily, but Kontakt still works
Others on the list will doubtless be more help.

 Hi all,

Can anybody unconfuse me on this?

Finale comes with a couple of players and instrument sets. There is also a
free Kontakt player from NI, and a full $400 version of Kontakt.

Is Finale's Kontakt player the same as the free Kontakt player? If not, does
the free version work with Finale? Do both versions work together with Finale
  Garritan instrument sets?

Does the $400 version work with Finale (as it imports lots of other samples
that I have and have created)? Do all versions work together? Do the Garritan
 instruments work with them?

This may be old news, but I've generally worked with EA stuff which tends to
be mutually incompatible and developed various workarounds. But Finale isn't a
plug-in based system, so what are the issues using these players? Do each come
up separately as instrument sets in the menu?

 Thanks,
 Dennis

The full version of Kontakt 4 does work with Finale 2010, the latest version
I have. In fact all the NI programs that come with Komplete 6 7 (eg.
Battery, FM8, Massive, Reaktor) work with Finale.

I don't know if the free version of Kontakt works but the free version of
Kore (another NI product) does work.

The process of using them is the same as using any other VST instrument.

Thanks to you and Chuck. It looks like it's okay. I was worried I'd screw it
all up, which was apparently the case a few versions ago. (I have several
versions intalled up to F2011).

In the meantime, I got caught by the printing update bug. I sent out parts
electronically a few weeks ago after printing to PDF. Yup, auto-update layout
happened first, and I just emailed without checking. Just found out about it
after hearing performer grumbling, which they never do with my parts.
