Me too. Not anymore since I don't get L10N jobs anymore. There was
such time 10 years ago. Why did I not do saving!! Stoopid.

If you have $150 you don't need and want to hear arguments about
characters in Burmese or what current glyphs can be combined to form
a character in ancient Hebrew...the UC is a great place to be ;-)

Not for me :-(
Unicode is created for English speaking programmers. It's great if
you are software engineer who needs I18N coding. I certainly
appreciate Unicode very much. But when I go back to deal with
Japanese, have to curse it since Japanese Kanji character table is
under Chinese subset. Not cool.

Nevertheless, Finale should be Unicode clean. It became minimum
requirement ever since OSX and NT5.

If Finale would support Unicode (ahem ;) ) this would be useful,
unfortunately not.

But on the crucial question:

What was Coda's role in regard to Blake Hodgetts' fonts? Does the
copyright notice just mean they provided him with help in making them
Finale compatible, or did Coda distribute them with Finale at some
point?

Er, Finale doesn't do Unicode, so what use would that be in Finale?

And, of course, you'd still have to have a font that had that
character defined. That is, just because the Unicode standard
allocates a slot for a particular glyph doesn't mean that every font
implements every glyph (if you think about it, you'd realize that
would be silly -- it would require 65K-odd glyphs defined in every
font).

It also seems peculiar to me that so many people would suggest add-on
fonts when one of the fonts included with Finale since at least
Finale 3.x (i.e., Toccatta) includes the requested glyph, unless, of
course, the add-on font is superior to Toccatta (so far as I recall,
nobody has suggested that, but it could still be true).

Doesn't everyone examine the fonts that come with Finale for useful
items?

I'm not sure that most people even know that Finale installs a bunch
of fonts other than Maestro and Jazzand the new Broadway font. Is
there a section in the online manual about the additional fonts? Or a
list of characters and the key combos to get them out?

I don't think so. I'd have to boot up the music computer to check. But
if there is no mention of Toccatta or other fonts and the extra
characters someone might suggest to MakeMusic to put it in the manual.

But I don't think Toccatta was really part of Finale, I thought that
was a shareware thing by Blake Hodgetts.

http://www.efn.org/~bch/AboutFonts.html

Though maybe MakeMusic is including the font now with FinaleI
don't know. But it is good to know that this character exists in a
font.

This is, of course, useless information (since it's coming from me),
but the Toccatta font has always had these included.
