Hi,
Last week I reported that Xdarwin didn't work anymore after the gcc3.3
and 10.2.8 update. This morning after fink selfupdate xfree86 was
reinstalled (revision 14), but it still does not work :(
Here are some observations:
If I double click the XDarwin icon, I see the gray screen for a few
seconds, and the I return to the Finder, here's the console output:
XFree86 Version 4.3.0 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600)
Release Date: 27 February 2003
If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your hardware is
newer than the above date, look for a newer version before
reporting problems. (See http://www.XFree86.Org/FAQ)

waiting for X server to shut down
Quitting XDarwin...
If I type 'startx' at the prompt, I get the following error:
[ModusOperandi:~] koen% startx
/usr/X11R6/bin/startx: line 49: syntax error near unexpected token `'''
/usr/X11R6/bin/startx: line 49: `XCOMM '' required to prevent cpp
from treating /* as a C comment.'
[ModusOperandi:~] koen%
However, if I remove the .xinitrc file from my Home directory, I get
the standard twm windows. My .xinitrc file looks like this:
source /sw/bin/init.sh
/sw/bin/startkde /tmp/kde.log 21
Even if I replace the kde-line with xterm , XDarwin crashes.
Any ideas what might be going one, maybe some hidden files I need to
delete?
thanks,
- Koen.

Hi,
I upgraded to the 10.2-gcc3.3 tree (fink 0.14.1), and now XDarwin
won't startup. I read about something similar on this thread:
http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/
msg07979.html (I got very similar errors). The solution suggested
there solved my problem when using the standard window manager.
However when I run KDE, XDarwin quits again after a few seconds.
Anyone else run into this problem?
I understand this is in a testing phase, but someone needs to test it
;)
thanks,
- Koen.
