 How to remedy?

ps. Three years ago I asked this list about a different
update-finance-quote problem. That was about environment settings; in
this case the file is just not there.

Do you happen to know which package is supposed to provide it? And
what is the context of any error you're getting? I don't show it on
my system either.

That utility was renamed to gnc-fq-update. In the fink realm, it only
has the effect of 'fink update date-manip-pm finance-quote-pm586' (or
-588 depending on your system version) because there were sometimes
problems if one updated finance-quote through CPAN the way the
standard gnucash utility did it.

My system is happier after running that utility. Thanks.

Next question: Which command to use to update quotes from the command
line? On an older system I run this every day from a cron job.

thanks again

[Fink-users] Phynchronicity 2.2 released

2008-08-08 Thread Kevin Walzer
I have released Phynchronicity 2.2, my GUI for the Fink Unix-software
package management system on Mac OS X.

Phynchronicity provides a graphical user interface for Fink, a powerful
command-line tool for installing and updating thousands of Unix-based
applications for the Mac. But Fink's sheer power and scale make it hard
to use, even with a GUI.

Phynchronicity aims to make Fink easy to use. Unlike other GUI tools for
Fink, it does not overwhelm the user with options. Instead, with a
simple three-pane interface, it lets users get started doing what they
want to do--finding, installing, and removing packages.

Phynchronicity 2.2 adds the following improvements and features:

* Faster display of all Fink packages: only queries Fink database on
startup and when package is installed or removed, not when All is
selected from tree view.

* Growl support: Now displays Growl notifications on systems with Growl
installed.

* Adds standard Mac window menu to better fit with system interface
guidelines.

* Preferences now update immediately on window close; no need to hit
save button. Better compliance with system interface guidelines.

* No longer connects to server on every startup to check for new
version; user controls this process.

* New license menu item displays user's serial number.

* User help now online; eliminates use of OS X help viewer.

Phynchronicity is shareware; a license costs $24.95 and a 30-day demo is
available. Mac OS X 10.4 is the minimum supported OS. Phynchronicity is
a universal binary.

For more information about Phynchronicity, including download links, see
http://www.codebykevin.com/phynchronicity.html.
