Thanks. Yes, I get the warning -- didn't look at the console.log
As a work-around, I found adding a logout script using the logout hook to delete these files into /etc/ttys did the trick.
The permissions on /tmp etc are as yours.
For now everything works.

This is from console.log when I click on the X11.app icon in the dock. I always get these when the owner in question is not root. But this is really not important, except that it would show that your configuration is somehow different.
I've also managed to reproduce this on 3 computers. All have in common a prior XonX installation and OroborOS X window manager, other than that probably nothing that is non-canonical.Maybe you have weird permissions on /tmp/? What does "ls -la /tmp/" give? And "ls -la /private"? I get
