[Fink-users] dbus and ssh PAM

2009-09-10 Thread William G. Scott
This is a bit odd:

I turned off PAM authentication in /etc/sshd_config to use only
PubkeyAuthentication ( this is working fine on a ppc 10.5).

I then reboot, login, and get

Bug: launchctl.c:2325 (23930):13: (dbfd = open
(g_job_overrides_db_path, O_RDONLY | O_EXLOCK | O_CREAT, S_IRUSR |
S_IWUSR)) != -1
launch_msg(): Socket is not connected

which I eventually traced to /sw/etc/profile.d/dbus.sh ...

Perhaps related:

% sudo daemonic-dbus stop

% sudo daemonic-dbus start

Starting D-Bus System Bus
Failed to start message bus: Failed to bind socket /sw/var/run/dbus/
system_bus_socket: Invalid argument

% sudo daemonic-dbus restart
[no complaint]

% ps -ax | grep dbus
  4373 ?? 0:00.00 /sw/bin/dbus-daemon --nofork --session

Then no more error messages on subsequent logins

Is it really dbus I wonder?

It is definitely the same error message,

More generally, if /sw/etc/profile.d/dbus.sh

uses launchd with /sw/share/dbus/launchd/org.finkproject.dbus-
session.plist

then why is there also a /Library/StartupItems/daemonic-dbus ?

Shouldn't it be one or the other (and the first one on 10.6 and 10.5)?

The only stab I'll take at the various startup settings is that dbus
installs both a daemon and a command-line service.
