We’re in the process of trying to fix some issues here. For now, download

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/akhansen/Fink-experimental/master/libXt/xfig.info

and copy or move that into /sw/fink/dists/local/main/finkinfo

There is another (not obviously related) problem that we are currently
experiencing with xfig, which is that the text entry fields aren’t responding
to keystrokes. Copying and pasting text from another window works, however.

[Fink-users] fink install fails

2016-11-12 Thread Ravindra Amritkar
Dear

I installed fink on clean Sierra upgrade. After installing I tried to
install xfig. Installation failed. I tried again by reinstalling fink. But
same error again. I also tried the suggested procedure of putting Fink
build jobs to 1. But failed again. (I have used fink earlier without any
problem.)

Error message: (Part of the output as follows)

Found use of headers from 6 fink packages:

fontconfig2-dev

freetype219

libjpeg9

libpng16

libxaw3dxft

xft2-dev

Scanning binaries for incorrect dyld linking...

./src/xfig uses /opt/X11/lib/libXt.6.dylib

Please fix build process to get consistent use of fink's libraries.

### execution of fink-package-precedence failed, exit code 255

### execution of /tmp/fink.qSR8k failed, exit code 255

Removing runtime build-lock...

Removing build-lock package...

/sw/bin/dpkg-lockwait -r fink-buildlock-xfig-3.2.6-1

Removing fink-buildlock-xfig-3.2.6-1 ...

[Fink-users] Fink install fails

2006-12-12 Thread Bob Portmann
I'm trying to rebuild my fink installation and cannot get past the
update-all. I have a Quad PPC Mac running 10.4.8, XCode 2.3, Apple
X11 1.1.3. After moving my old /sw out of the way, I've done:

1. Installed using Fink-0.8.1-PowerPC-Installer.dmg

2. fink scanpackages; fink index; fink selfupdate (runs OK)

3. fink update-all (accepting all defaults)

This does a bunch of stuff and ends with:

(Reading database ... 4150 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace fink-prebinding 0.7.1-2 (using
.../fink-prebinding_0.7.1-1002_darwin-powerpc.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement fink-prebinding ...
Setting up fink-prebinding (0.7.1-1002) ...
Reading buildlock packages...
Could not resolve inconsistent dependencies!

Fink isn't sure how to install the above packages safely. You may be
able to fix things by running:

  fink scanpackages
  apt-get update
  apt-get install gettext-dev=0.10.40-25 gettext=0.10.40-25

Updating the list of locally available binary packages.

Failed: Fink::SysState: Could not resolve inconsistent dependencies

4. So I try what it suggests:

4a. fink scanpackages (runs fine)

4b. apt-get update
E: Could not open lock file /sw/var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (13
Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the list directory

So I am stuck. Any idea how I can get fink installed? I also tried
starting over and using the unstable tree with the same result.

Thanks,
Bob

The message probably should say to run

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gettext-dev=0.10.40-25 gettext=0.10.40-25

(basically anything you do with apt-get that involves the package
database requires it to be run as the superuser)

OK, thanks. I've never used apt-get so I didn't know that, since I
usually only work with the unstable tree.
