Firebird is not that rare, actually. Some other software might have created something in machine config files for a purpose. I suppose nobody installs DDEX on a production machines. Completely nonsense. :) Luckily, I did not use DDEX too much. Such thing was not available when I started and now I am quite used to do all things non-visual. Considering the non-love DDEX has in Visual Studio, I think it will either die in future versions of VS or it will be deprecated (replaced). -- Jiri {x2} Cincura (x2develop.com founder) http://blog.cincura.net/ | http://www.ID3renamer.com -- Master HTML5, CSS3, ASP.NET, MVC, AJAX, Knockout.js, Web API and much more. What is the problem? I don't see an actual problem described in your message. Let me help you :-) The dialog is closing at once when any input is made in any entryfield or textbox. So you can't specify any connection details. This *also* happens when using the correct MSI installers, *if* your current installation of .net framework and different machine.config files already includes some explicit manual installation of earlier versions of the DDEX driver. Rule at hand: if you already tried (successfully or not) any manual explicit installation, you better check twice if all of the old stuff got removed completely. On a naked system, which never saw any manual explicit installation of DDEX provider, installation *never* fails. (*never* of course is a relative term... I only tried on some 50 different machines or so). -- Master Visual Studio, SharePoint, SQL, ASP.NET, C# 2012, HTML5, CSS, MVC, Windows 8 Apps, JavaScript and much more. Re: [Firebird-net-provider] Firebird ADO.NET Data Provider 3.0.2 - installation ossue over VS 2010
When I've had trouble getting it installed correctly on a non-virgin machine, the following steps usually work for me: 1) Uninstall DDEX Provider 2) Uninstall Firebird ADO.Net Provider 3) Uninstall Visual Studio Professional 4) Reboot 5) Search the computer for all copies of machine.config in any .net framework folder. For each copy I find, I rename it to machine.config.BeforeDefaulting. Then, copy machine.config.default to machine.config (be sure to use the one in the same folder). Repeat for each copy of machine.config that was found. 6) Reboot again 7) Reinstall Visual Studio Professional 8) Reboot again 9) Reinstall Firebird ADO.Net Provider from the MSI 10) Reinstall DDEX Provider from the MSI 11) Reboot again Some of those reboots may not be necessary, but I do them all just to be sure. -Joe On Thu, Dec 27, 2012 at 6:48 AM, karasi v...@bk.ru wrote: Thank your for answering. Really, i tryed installing Driver with that sequesnce i've given above... First, MSI, then manually edited machine.cfg and importing REGs. But without manually installing after running MSIs actually there was no Firebird Data Source in New data source dialog in VS. And only manual i found was readme.txt in DDEX. -- View this message in context: http://firebird.1100200.n4.nabble.com/Firebird-ADO-NET-Data-Provider-3-0-2-installation-issue-over-VS-2010-tp4632552p4632572.html Sent from the firebird-net-provider mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- Master Visual Studio, SharePoint, SQL, ASP.NET, C# 2012, HTML5, CSS, MVC, Windows 8 Apps, JavaScript and much more. Jiri Cincura thank your for answering. Installing without manual modifications didn't take effect also. But i've found a way: i was trying to install /NETProvider-3.0.2.0.msi/ but it was only /NETProvider-3.0.2.0-NET40.7z/ working for me. -- View this message in context: http://firebird.1100200.n4.nabble.com/Firebird-ADO-NET-Data-Provider-3-0-2-installation-issue-over-VS-2010-tp4632552p4632568.html Sent from the firebird-net-provider mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- Master Java SE, Java EE, Eclipse, Spring, Hibernate, JavaScript, jQuery and much more.
