Hi ,

This issue was replicated only on client end while I copied the DB on our end
it was working with any slowness.

I took the remote of client DB , performed validation check on DB & backup -
restore operation on DB.

After doing this its working normally now.

Thanks for help. :)

Hi.

When you gain slowdows

Run

gstat -h

and put here results.

Problem probably is because of some long running transaction.

  Hello everyone,

During inserting data to a table I received an error on my application log
"database file appears corrupt (DB Path) wrong page type page 232333 is of

On looking in FB log I got following :

  Database: DB

Data page 232331 (sequence 168514) is confuse d in table

TABLENAME (159)

  DEVMACHINE (Server) Thu Dec 21 16:45:24 2017

  Database: DB

  Page 232317 is an orphan

This is the first time I am seeing this error and don't know what has
caused it. Is there any precaution to avoid such kind of errors..?

This database is around 3 years old and database maintenance activity is
not done on it. Also, the said table has 5.4 million records in it.

  Thank you in advance J

1. Create MySQL database with the same tables.
2. Export Firebird data into CVS files using FBExport.
3. Import data into MySQL.

   That's all.

Dimitry,

Thanks for your reply. The problem of backing up using gbak is that it is
not possible to run incremental backups, right?

By the way, i'm using nbackup 0-level per month and 1-level everyday,
replacing the 1-level everyday by the new one. In this approach, if I run
nbackup recover using the 0-level and the 1-level backup should I get the
latest version of the database?

Hej,
some questions:
- by local connections you're talking about drive letter:\path\to\fdb?
Or 127.0.0.1:., which would be a network connection, regardless of
which host the connection comes from.

- which version of Firebird?

- which user? SYSDBA is allowed to connect an 'offline' database. He has
to, else a database would only become a big jumbled piece of
bits'n'bytes if one pulls the trigger gfix -shut ...

Do you have the output of gstat -h database.fdb? What does the row
Attributes say?

Any hints anybody? I know this is hard to determine as we do not know
much about the program itself, but it seems the guys from the software
shop have trouble to understand firebird...

Hi,

So you found 640Gb of information.
Is it related with recent leaks of account form BVI offshore companies? :)

 I found a database that weighs 640G,
this basis consists of seven files. fdb ie

 datos_1.fdb
 datos_2.fdb
 datos_3.fdb
 datos_4.fdb
 datos_5.fdb
 datos_6.fdb
 datos_7.fdb

as I can generate a backup of the database and how I can perform
 restore, thanks.

Morning Jorge,

  We have a Windows 2008 R2 64 bit server running Fb 1.5.6 32 bits
classic, the database is around 2Gb.

Would like to know if the Database Backup Software featured at
IBPHOenix.com would be suitable to automate the database backup taks
  on this server.
  Link: http://www.ibphoenix.com/products/software/yamacobackup

I have to admit that I've not used this product, however, there is a 14
day free trial offered so you could give it a try and see if it meets
your needs. Possible trialling against a copy database as opposed to
your production one!

One thing I notice though is the supported versions of Firebird:

Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7 (both 32 and 64 bit versions) FireBird 2.1
and 2.5 (with guaranteed support for upcoming FireBird versions, for
example 3.0).

It appears that your particular version of Firebird (or Windows) is not
supported. From work, I know that there are a few differences between
Windows 2000 and 2008 which affects some of the products I have to use
(Oracle for example).

Database Workbench is not available for Linux, it's Windows only.

However, you can connect from Windows to Linux Firebird just fine,
we've heard of succesful attemps to run it under Wine on Linux.
