Yes, but you listen for the DEACTIVATE event dispatched by the stage to 
signal it has lost focus...

You can do that. But any instance will do.
Yes, but in this instance, he wants to know when the Flash movie loses 
focus - hence my point about listening to the events on the stage - a 
button or other event dispatcher may lose focus at any time, but the 
Flash movie may still have focus.  I don't mean to be rude, but you are 
splitting hairs where they don't need to be split to solve the problem.

It is a special event. It is one of the few broadcast events. The manual 
is quite clear on this. It is not dispatched for focus issues. That's 
the FocusEvent class. This is a plain Event. I refer to the manual for 
all the details about this event.


But you do have a point, it's not important. But I was under the 
impression that you had already answered the question well enough for 
the original poster.
