[Flashcoders] Creating Dynamic addEventListeners with AS3

2009-04-05 Thread Graham Pearson
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

On my flash stage I have 50 buttons all named with the convention of
State_IN, State_MI, State_WI, etc.

At the present time I have 50 lines like the one line below of:

State_IN.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, StateButtonClicked);

What I am trying to do is when I retrieve the recordset back from the
coldfusion component is to loop through the results like

function GetClientsWithinCategory_Result(rs.Object) {
for (var i:int = 0; i < rs.length; i++) {
  State_rs[i].addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, StateButtonClicked);
  // The Value of rs[i] will return the 2 letter abriviation of the
State eg: IN, WI, etc
}
}

How do I go about combining State_ + the result from rs[i] so that
when a user clicks on Indiana it will run the actionscript within the
State Button Clicked Function

I have not looked into this but does anyone have any examples where a
user can click an icon and be able to print the information of the

to allow a user to print a receipt for service in one of my
applications. Any Ideas or does anyone know of a Flash Based Reporting
Engine that can make this possible.

Has anyone been able to install the Flash8 Flash Remoting 2 components

I have searched the Net for a solution, but everything that I have tried

That is because the URL is only accessible on my LAN. If I change the
gateway url to www which is the public address I get the same result so
I know it has to be something with my setup but I can not figure it out.
 I really do not want to go back to AS1 if I can help it, but I just
might have to.

[Flashcoders] AS2 Flash Remoting Troubles

2006-11-24 Thread Graham Pearson

I am working on moving my AS1 Flash Remoting Applications over to AS2
and having a devil of a time. The problem that I am running into is that
the code within the RelayResponder does not execute to my knowledge.
Here is an example of what I am doing.

function onEchoFault(rs:FaultEvent) {
trace("--> onEchoFault has been executed ");
}
function onEchoResult(re:ResultEvent) {
trace("--> onEchoResult has been executed ");
}

var pc:PendingCall = myService.makeEcho("Hello World!");
pc.responder = new RelayResponder(this, "onEchoResul", "onEchoFault");

When I run the application in my debugger window I get the following

11/25 7:26:11 [INFO] logger1: Creating Service for properties.cfc.HelloWorld
11/25 7:26:11 [INFO] logger1: Creating gateway connection for
http://devel.yourcfpro.com/flashservices/gateway
11/25 7:26:11 [INFO] logger1: Successfully created Service
11/25 7:26:13 [INFO] logger1: Invoking makeEcho on properties.cfc.HelloWorld
11/25 7:26:15 [INFO] logger1: properties.cfc.HelloWorld.makeEcho()
returned "Hello Hello World!"

I do not get the Trace statement on the onEchoResult. What am I doing wrong.

import mx.services.Log;
import mx.controls.Alert;

var siteID:String = "1000";
var gatewayServer:String = "messagegateway.localhost";
var LicenseKey:String = "7A14A28C";
var pc:PendingCall;

var smsFlashRemoting:Service = new Service("http://"; + gatewayServer +
"/flashservices/gateway", webServiceLog,
"properties.cfc.SMSMessageGateway", null, null);
pc = smsFlashRemoting.SendMessage(siteID, LicenseKey);
pc.responder = new RelayResponder(this, 'SendMessage_Result',
'SendMessage_Fault');

function SendMessage_Result(re:ResultEvent):Void {
trace("Received Result from sendMessage_Result: " + re.result);
}

function SendMessage_Fault(fe:FaultEvent):Void {
trace("Received Error from sendMessage_Fault: " +
fe.fault.faultstring);
}

As mentioned above this code works as I get the trace statement in the
output window which is what I would expect. Now for the code which
follows I will not get the trace statement from the _result function
and the only thing that I have done is put a button on a stage to have
the user click this button to run the same Remoting Call. Below is my
code:

import mx.remoting.Service; // Import the Service Class
import mx.remoting.PendingCall; // Import the PendingCall Class
import mx.remoting.RecordSet; // Import the RecordSet Class
import mx.remoting.debug.*; // Import the Remoting Debug Class
import mx.rpc.*; // Import all of the RPC Service Classes
import mx.services.Log;
import mx.controls.Alert;

var siteID:String = "1000";
var gatewayServer:String = "messagegateway.localhost";
var LicenseKey:String = "7A14A28C";
var pc:PendingCall;

var sendMessage = new Object();
var ccObjectListener = new Object();
var webServiceLog = new Log(Log.VERBOSE);
sendMessage_btn.addEventListener("click", sendMessage);

var smsFlashRemoting:Service = new Service("http://"; + gatewayServer +
"/flashservices/gateway", webServiceLog,
"properties.cfc.SMSMessageGateway", null, null);

sendMessage.click = function() {
pc = smsFlashRemoting.SendMessage(siteID, LicenseKey);
pc.responder = new RelayResponder(this, 'SendMessage_Result',
'SendMessage_Fault');

function SendMessage_Result(re:ResultEvent):Void {
trace("Received Result from sendMessage_Result: " + re.result);
}

function SendMessage_Fault(fe:FaultEvent):Void {
trace("Received Error from sendMessage_Fault: " +
fe.fault.faultstring);
}

}

The code with the button on the screen will never put the trace line
in the debug window. I have tried putting the fucntions for the
_Result and _Fault inside of the click function and also on the
outside. Everything that I have tried will reproduce the same results
without the trace being displayed in the output window.

Any Suggestions.

My question regarding this component is how can I test the value of
the data to make sure the user has selected at least 1 entry from this
list. I am able to retrieve the data value if the user has selected
one or more entries but if the user did not select any I am getting a
value of undefined and not sure how to test this value.

Anyone have resources where I can look I have tried
if(carbonCopyUsers_lb.getSelectedItems().data == undefined {
trace("User did not select an item"); }

However the trace statement does not run.

I have to solve one thing yet and test this new software at one of our
schools before we move to this new version number of DCG-150. When I
have this ready we will be ready for you to image the drives when they
are shipped. I have done alot of work to make this easy for us.

[Flashcoders] Passing Data Values between Frames

2005-12-01 Thread Graham Pearson
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I have a Form on Frame 1 of my Movie. When a user completes this form
and clicks a button, How do I get the values from Frame 1 to be passed
to Frame 2.

In my ListenerObject for this Button I have currently:

ccObjectListener.click = function() {
   if (sendPageTo_cb.getSelectedItem().data == 0) { Show Alert Box to
Display Message }
  else if (message_txt.text.length < 1) { Show Alert Box to Display
Message }else { _root.gotoAndStop(2) }
}

When the user is on Frame 1 and the sendPageTo is not selected then
the user does get the Alert Box with an error message informing the
user to select the first person to receive this message. The same goes
for message_txt. But when I goto Frame 2 and trace the values from
sendPageTo_cb and message_txt.text I get undefined.

Any Suggestions
