Oh not with your suggestion Jason, this one.

But with as 2? I wouldn't
bother.
You need better performance than that for 3D.

I was just disagreeing with the notion you should avoid 3d with AS2.
You are correct that it would be a better situation with AS3, but
that it still can be done with AS2.

Sorry for any confusion.

I disagree. I have seen some good swift 3d pieces done in as2.

There's an AS2 version of Papervision3D, it's not so bad, you can do neat
stuff with it if it's not too complicated 3D models.

2010-04-06 Thread Glen Pike

Hi,

Pretty much echoing what the others said - use AS3 and PV3D, etc.

This tutorial will give you some help if you want to roll your own
stuff in AS2:

   http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/3d_classes.html

I really like this library too - it has some very simplistic
Vector3D stuff, but it whipped PV3D's ass for vector style 3D, rather
than bitmapped images, last year. There was a bad implementation of the
Five3D rendering for PV3D, but it did not do what I wanted (vector +
lighting in PV3D). There is also an AS2 version.
