[flexcoders] BETA 2: DateField appears behind TitleWindow when clicked
Hello, I have a TitleWindow and inside I hold a signup form. In the signup form I ask for the Birthdate using a DateField. When clicked on for the first time the popup calendar appears on top of the TitleWindow. BUT if I want to pick another date and I click on the small calendar icon for a second time the popup calendar appears behind the TitleWindow. Any ideas on how to make it appear always on top? Re: [flexcoders] Re: BETA 2: How to validate a form before actually submitting
Here's a code snippet that works in Flex 1.5. It may need some refactoring for version 2. This code uses the StringValidator. If Validator.isStructureValid fails, myfield_ti will be highlighted in red and there will be a little message saying it's a required field (or whatever the particular validator has by default, or a custom message you setup). Check the documentation for other types of validators you can use or extend one of them and do your own logic. You can set custom messages in attributes of the validator or through a custom validator. MXML mx:Model id=myModel myFieldName{myfield_ti.text}/myFieldName /mx:Model mx:StringValidator field=myModel.myFieldName/ ACTIONSCRIPT // do this in the method that runs when you click your submit button Validator.enable(this,myModel.myFieldName); if (Validator.isStructureValid(this, 'myModel')) { //add code here to submit form } --- Alex Alex [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi Mike, I understand the login, but how do I reference the validation? [flexcoders] Cairngorm 2 and mx:States
As I'm implementing the usage of the Cairngorm 2 microarchitecture on a project, I came across a question regarding the new Flex 2 States concept and how to best implement it with Cairngorm. What you're seeing is a bug in beta 2 – the framework incorrectly raises the "multiple sets of children in base and derived components" error in cases where the superclass (A.mxml in your example) in fact has no children. This will be fixed for beta 3; the workaround in beta 2 is to insert the following Script/ code into the superclass, e.g. A.mxml: mx:Script /** * This namespace is used for undocumented APIs -- usually implementation * details -- which can't be private because they need to visible * to other classes. * APIs in this namespace are completely unsupported and are likely to * change in future versions of Flex. */ namespace mx_internal = http://www.adobe.com/2006/flex/mx/internal; override mx_internal function setDocumentDescriptor(desc:mx.core.UIComponentDescriptor):void { if (mx_internal::_documentDescriptor mx_internal::_documentDescriptor.properties.childDescriptors) { if (desc.properties.childDescriptors) { throw new Error(Multiple sets of visual children have been specified for this component (base component definition and derived component definition).);
Re: [flexcoders] Cairngorm 2 and mx:States
Actually, application state can be stored in the Model. If you look at the login example, you'll see them storing a workflowState variable. However, if you're talking about your views, then that is probably the proper time to use the mx:States objects. RE: [flexcoders] A suggestion for the group (Tutorials and Tip's)
In addition to all of the community resources out there and the labs Wiki we are investigating adding some more functionality to the Developer Center that will provide more sample code and task-based solutions. I currently own most sample content for the Flex 2 release and despite the problems that you're seeing in the early betas (and you will continue to see later) by the time we ship I hope to have a more significant samples ecosystem in place.
