I understand how capital flows vary in different parts of the world... even
when you figure in currency exchange rates, or the differing cost-of-living
rates in different areas, it can often be hard to purchase technological
material in different places. It's to everyone's interest to find
sustainable ways around this.
Sun is trying something now where they're pricing differently in different
countries. This may be easier with operating systems (which include support
and maintainence and are usually site-licensed) than for individual
software items, which can more easily cross geographic boundaries illicitly
to exploit any such differentials.
That said, I'm guessing that anyone who may find Flex useful would likely
have a personal capital flow that makes $10US quite affordable. From what
you're seeing in India (which part of India, btw?), are the people who are
interested but who find $10US prohibitive those who are currently
unemployed, or are switching fields, or are seeking a trial so they can
convince their employers, or...? What type of working situation are people
who want it in?
