RE: [flexcoders] Release Dates?

The thread on Emmys blog is here: http://weblogs.macromedia.com/emmy/archives/2005/12/why_isnt_there.cfm
with plenty of comments from the community.

There is no official release plan
announced for a Linux player though you can expect it to be a minimum of a
number of months at this point (so at least a quarter, wed certainly
hope not a year).

Upgrade to new player can be done inside the player
now so it is not really an issue anymore.
Anyway it used to be 6 months for 50% and one year
for 80% covered with a new release (if i remember correctly).

There is an inclusion swf, and routine that happens with the Flash player. This was true for Flash Player 8 also.

Search for it and you will find a detailed answer.

I mean that if you have fp8, when you enter an application wich needs fp9,
you can code the fp9 app to automatically update your fp8 to fp9. I think
you can even skin the update bar in your flash.
Then you'll be ask to relaunch your browser and voilà.
Crossplatform, seamlessly integrated, updates only parts of the player which
need to be updated,... what else ?

Flash player can upgrade itself, with out you as a web developer having to do

Dates?

Has Adobe given any indications on when FlexBuilder and Flash 9 will be
released?

I'm starting a project for a client and Flex is the right tool... but it has to
be out of beta to give to the client.

Any insights would be helpful.

Thanks.
