Alan,

At TRW Automotive, where I recently retired from, they are still running
Win2K on the production floor with no plans to change. The new office
machines are running XP, but not production.

A couple days ago I ran into the IT guy for one of the local medical
centers. He told me they've only just "upgraded" (if that is the
appropriate term) from Win2K to WinXP. No way they're going to switch to
Vista any time soon.

Actually, it is right on the money Pete. When Platform SDK installs it
has a big red X and asks are you really sure you want to change your
environment variables. I MIGHT have been dumb and said, sure why not.

I have uninstalled the Platform SDK Windows Server 2003 (R2) [this is
supposed to cover Windows XP SP2 where the older platform SDK DID NOT as
well as Vista]. It definitely broke the interop (link between languages
in our case, between C and C#).

I will uninstall MSVS Studio 2003 Enterprise-Architect provided to me by
work and install it again and ALLOW IT to set the environment variables.

Bob,

You might want to check your LIB and INCLUDE environment variables to see if
they point to any sub-folders under the . It's
been a while since I last installed the platform sdk but I seem to remember
it lets you choose the folder and then you hook your development environment
to it via the above mentioned items. Of course this sounds too simple to be
all there is to it;) If this is how it's set up you may just be able to
reinstall the older sdk and point to that folder hierarchy instead.
