Great ! Is there any consensus wether to build PLIB for the binary
releases with or without the 'Plib_ssgDList2' patch as in
  ftp://ftp.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/FlightGear/Devel/Plib_ssgDList2-20050105.diff
I'm going to build with default plib-1.8.4 this time.
Then we would have several month to get it included in the next plib
release.

I'm building a set of binaries on top of Yoper and have been wondering about
distrubiting them. They (probably) will work (and I'd like to find out for
sure if there are any volunteers) on recent releases of rpm systems (Fedora
C3, Mandrake 10.x, maybe even Suse 9.2. I'd like are suggestions as far as
where these can be posted. I just don't have the bandwidth here.

The packages are pretty unremarkable, but here are the details:

- rpm installation of plib, SimGear, FlightGear, fgrun, with dependency
checking.
- i686, stripped.
- very small patch to fgrun so that first excution is from the desktop menu
system and the default aircraft and airport are already selected.

Menu placement has been a bit of hitch (as always). This system is kde and
there are variations in configuration even (especially) between distros using
the same version of kde. So far I've included two category paths
Edutainment/Miscellaneous and (gasp!) Games/Arcade. I will add any other
categories to the desktop file for folks running default menu configurations
on their distros that offer better placement.

Best,

Jim

Hi Thomas,

The files are here:
http://www.spiderbark.com/oneshot/

If you already have downloaded the base package you can skip downloading my
rpm and just move it to /usr/share/FlightGear/data. fgrun is not actually
checking for the base package dependeency.

Let me know how you make out.

In case you don't know, if you have plib and simgear already installed on this
machine you need to remove them or move them out of the way...just to avoid
conflicts.

Thanks,

Jim

out for sure if there are any volunteers) on recent releases of rpm
  systems
(Fedora C3, Mandrake 10.x, maybe even Suse 9.2. I'd like are
  suggestions
as far as where these can be posted. I just don't have the bandwidth
  here.

I can help with Fedora C3.

  Hi Thomas,

  The files are here:
  http://www.spiderbark.com/oneshot/

If you already have downloaded the base package you can skip downloading
  my
rpm and just move it to /usr/share/FlightGear/data. fgrun is not
  actually
checking for the base package dependeency.

Let me know how you make out.

In case you don't know, if you have plib and simgear already installed on
  this
machine you need to remove them or move them out of the way...just to
  avoid
  conflicts.

  Thanks,

  Jim

Great ! Is there any consensus wether to build PLIB for the binary
releases with or without the 'Plib_ssgDList2' patch as in

  ftp://ftp.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/FlightGear/Devel/Plib_ssgDList2-20050105.diff

Cheers,
