Blimey! What a wierd combination of effects. On Windows ME its nearly the same: just
"start .\notepad" is different.
C:\>ver
Windows Millennium [Version 4.90.3000]
C:\>start /m notepad
-- notepad started minimized
C:\>start .\notepad
Cannot find file '.\notepad' (or one of its components). Check
to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required
libraries are available.
C:\>start c:/Windows/notepad
-- notepad started successfully
C:\>start ./notepad
Cannot find file './notepad' (or one of its components). Check
to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required
libraries are available.
C:\>start ./notepad.exe
-- notepad started successfully
And also:
C:\>start .\notepad.exe
Cannot find file '.\notepad.exe' (or one of its components).
Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all
required libraries are available.
