Hi Isao,

here are the relevant part of the error message :

You need to install a hardware-accelerated driver for your graphic card.

 Audio initialization failed!
Could not change the current ALC context

It seems you don't have sound neither.

Maybe starting fgfs with --log-level=info will tell us more. But fix
your hardware/driver problems first.

Funny where you are sometimes, when ideas occur to you. I was in
the shower, thinking about various aspects of FG when I thought,
while doing some logical toppling: wouldn't it be fun in
multi-player if there was a mode where instead of one player to
one aircraft we could have many people to one aircraft, so that
several people could crew a single aircraft...

Some sort of voice comms would be a must but then think of the
 tutorial possibilities...

It's not too difficult to imagine several people occupying
different roles on larger aircraft i.e first second pilot,
navigator, flight engineer etc. not to mention the
 possibilities in combat related simulation.

...anyway, just something to think about.

Those busy working on MP are already thinking about this idea. It ought to
be possible, although we would have to live with the inherent network
latencies involved. We also have a controllable wingman in mind.

All this after getting MP working properly, and then comes getting the
carrier into MP ...

places where there's no chance to write them down: In the shower, on a

Hi Ralf,
thanks once again to the whole team, to you and Ingrid and ?
It is phantastic what you are doing with the scenery. And Atlas -
everybody has to see himself what is possible.

When I did a testflight I could not but make some screenshots because I
wanted to share my impressions with those who might hesitate to download
 the stuff.

I hope you do not mind me combining your wonderful scenery with an old
war-bird. But for me this combination fits very well - a wonderful
landscape, nice clouds and a historical airplane.

Please forget about the military aspect.

Here are the screenshots for all who do not know the scenery until now:

Sorry, no Atlas pics as Atlas won't work right since some time when I
have FG in fullscreen mode, heavy flickering, works only when FG is in
windowed mode what I hate. But the results are unbelievable!

Now Ralf and Ingrid, back to work. There is pretty much left over from
the rest of the world to do :-)

 I believe it is.

Others will profit from better error message, yes. But Isao's problem
won't be solved by that.

We have fg that just aborts. That is a problem regardless of the availability
 of a soundcard.

One cause for this is that people use wrongly compiled freeglut/SDL libs,
where exceptions aren't enabled and thus the stack unwinding informaion
is lost. So the boostrap function never gets the exception, but rather
calls terminate() and aborts. This is not a FlightGear bug. OTOH, we
suffer from it and should maybe add a hint to the error message or
a trouble-shooting README.

Do you already have a clue where in simgears code this exception is thrown?

Nope. But linking with a (free)glut/SDL lib that was configured/compiled/linked
with CFLAGS=-fexceptions $CFLAGS LDFLAGS=-fexceptions $LDFLAGS ./configure
should be more helpful.

Would be useful. But it is not the reason why fgfs doesn't show
the exception text, as I explained above.

I stared at the stack trace for a while, and I suspect the following code section from ATCVoice.cxx : bool FGATCVoice::LoadVoice(const string voice) { // FIXME CLO: disabled to try to see if this is causign problemcs // return false; ifstream fin; SGPath path = globals-get_fg_root(); path.append( "ATC" ); string file = voice + ".wav";SoundData = new SGSoundSample(); rawSoundData = (char *)SoundData-load_file(path.c_str(), file.c_str());I think the file path for the "/data/ATC/default.wav" SGPath path = globals-get_fg_root(); path.append( "ATC" ); is not resolved correctly. #6 0x083a0ff8 in SGSoundSample::load_file (this=0xb2da290, path=0x0, file=0xb2da10c "default.wav") at sample_openal.cxx:388 #7 0x080c61f2 in FGATCVoice::LoadVoice (this=0xb1e8040, [EMAIL PROTECTED]) at ATCVoice.cxx:58 How you guys think ? I'm gonna set a breakpoint right after "path.append("ATC");" to see what is set in the path string. Boy, I haven't done any coding / debugging in the last several years, so it's gonna take a while. It's a bit frustrating to exit because the sound is not working, or not
setup correctly. That draws a lot of frustrations, and angry complains
we see on the forums could be attributed to that.
I commited a patch where exceptions are caught nearer of their throw, so
we can use a degraded, silent, but working, code path.
An alert should be displayed, because the try/catch is at the right side
of GLUT.

Isao, update CVS, and tell us if FG is still aborting for you. If yes,
send a new backtrace.

[Flightgear-devel] FG+Atlas+Citation Bravo=FGmap

2006-02-12 Thread Julien Pierru
I always thought that a GPS style map in the glass cockpit of the
citation was missing, well that's been taken care of. This is
still early work, but it works, the map gets updated every 5 seconds
(more than enough given the resolution of the map). Here is a
screenshot:

http://flamebunny.homelinux.net/pics/fgfs/FGmap.jpg

I am now trying to integrate it a little better (now it's a bunch of
scripts to get the image from Atlas) into FG and maybe make it
interactive within FG.
Any suggestions that you may have are welcome.

I did uncomment the scenarionimitz_demo/scenario line in

Will probably not help you, but there should not be a scenario in your
autosave.xml. Where does it come from?
