Re: [Flightgear-devel] Updated F4E

2006-04-07 Thread Ron Jensen
There is another update to the F4E, same place as it always is
http://www.jentronics.com/fgfs/F4E.tgz

The airspeed/mach gauge is installed and functional, although the
texture needs some work, mach readout only goes to 1.2, its blank above
that... The needle reads out KCAS, and the mach ring rotates with
pressure altitude so the correct mach number is under the needle.

I've added some panel hotspots, too. They're hard to see since there
seems to be an issue with hotspots showing up in front of textures with
transparencies. The HSI course and heading knobs work, and the
instrument lights work with the dimmer knob shown on the texture in the
upper left of the panel.

There are two knobs under the VSI gauge (and standby attitude
indicator). The one on the right is clickable, but doesn't do anything
yet.

The one on the left controls the DME readout and bearing pointer on the
HSI. It has four settings:
  Bearing DME
 VOR/TAC: VOR 1VOR 1
 TAC: TACANTACAN
 ADF/TAC: ADF TACAN
NAV COMP: VOR 1TACAN

In the real world TACANs and VORs share a common DME system, but since
FGFS's NAV radios won't read all the TACANS, and FGFS's TACAN system
won't see all DME sources I put in an option for both styles of DME.

Happy flying,
Ron

[Flightgear-devel] Re: AP messed up? agl-hold vs. terrain-follow

2006-04-07 Thread Melchior FRANZ
* Lee Elliott -- Friday 07 April 2006 00:31:
now all we need from everyone else is a decision on 'agl-hold' vs.
 'terrain-follow'.

Okay. I flipped a coin, and agl-hold won! :-P

No, seriously: If nobody objects I will tomorrow switch all remaining
occurrences
of terrain-follow to agl-hold in generic FlightGear files (but not in maintained
aircraft, unless the maintainer wishes so). Rationale:

 - $FG_ROOT/Aircraft/Generic/generic-autopilot.xml uses agl-hold
 - $FG_ROOT/gui/dialogs/autopilot.xml uses agl-hold (and did before my changes)
 - all /autopilot/locks/altitude options end with -hold.
(all heading options, too, except wing-leveler, which is understandable)

Only $FG_ROOT/keyboard.xml and these aircraft use terrain-follow in at least
one *.nas or *.xml file:

 - AN-225
 - BAC-TSR2
 - A-10
 - B-52F
 - YF-23
 - seahawk
 - MiG-15
 - TU-114
 - Hunter
 - CanberraBI8

[Flightgear-devel] World scenery

2006-04-07 Thread Justin Smithies
Hi all,
I have just installed all of the world scenery on my FG installation
and i think i might have found some missing terrain data?

I decided to fly from PHOG ,Kahului Airport in Hawaii it loaded up fine i
even saw 3d models but there was no terrain just sea all around me.
Can someone else check too just to make sure im not going mad.
If you can see terrain let me know what file it is on .
I just downloaded the entire scenery folder and extracted it to FG.
I can see other areas like HK and Greece etc so its installed correctly.

Regards,
Justin smithies

Hi,

I have just checked the data sources in order to make sure this actually
made it into the scenery creation process: (Attention, long URL)

It seems as if the islands are correctly represented as landmass.

I don't see PHOG in the airports database. In case you mean POGG, you
could try this one:

http://document.ihg.uni-duisburg.de/cgi-bin/mapserv40?mode=browselayer=gshhs_coastlinezoomdir=0zoomsize=2imgxy=300.0+300.0imgext=-155.93+20.39+-156.93+21.39map=%2Fhome%2Fmas%2FWWW%2Flandcover%2Flandcover.maproot=%2Flandcoversavequery=trueprogram=%2Fcgi-bin%2Fmapserv40map_web_imagepath=%2Fhome%2Fmas%2FWWW%2Ftmp%2Fmap_web_imageurl=%2Ftmp%2Fmap_web_template=main.html

and add the layers you like. There actually _is_ land in this area -
at least there should be :-)
