Sorry for the confusion, this might have been false alarm. Apparently
that was one of those changes that only get you into trouble when you
don't rebuild the whole tree.
I still see rare segfaults on program exit but I assume they are not
related to this change. I'll keep you posted if I find something
reproducable,

[Flightgear-devel] YASim feature request

2006-08-21 Thread alexis bory
Hi, I'm curently working on the fake start and stop of _jet_ engines in
A-10 YASim aircraft.

Actually and without faking a complete system with nasal hacks over the
true YASim props, only a fuel shortage can 'stop' the jet engines.

Faking means, faking all the engines props, faking the thottle controls,
diverting the brakes (to prevent the effect of an eventual remaining
thrust when the engines are iddle) and find a solution to prevent the
still running engine to consume fuel. That's not a trivial task.

Well, as not being enough skilled to propose a patch to YASim, I humbly
ask Andy, and the community, to implement a tap on each jet engine fuel
arrival and make the starter start the stopped engine (it may be allready
working :)

That would easily permit lots of fun simulations like cutting one or two
engines at take-off, one engine loiter, engine stalls at high AoA.
Having a fuel tap for each engine would permit to better model fuel
systems like cutting the fuel after flying more than 10 sec with
negative G...

I hope you will hear me

Alexis

Re: [Flightgear-devel] how can I use the waypoint option and autopilot

2006-08-21 Thread Thiago Holanda Cavalcante Rego
Thank Mike,

Could I pass more than one GPS point to autopilot menu and the aircraft
will pass through all of points?

 Hello all,

Please, could anyone tell me a tutorial or howto add
 waypoint and to set
 autopilot to use this waypoints?

Try the Autopilot menu at top of FG screen. Click Add
Waypoint, and then add something like [EMAIL PROTECTED]
which will set autopilot to fly to Oakland and pass
overhead at 4000 feet. You can then add a series of
waypoints, and you can pop them (delete them) as
 well.

There are some differences among the aircraft
regarding autopilot capabilities that others will have
 to comment on.

If I understand you correctly, it is. YASim engines honor their
out-of-fuel properties the way you would expect. The default
behavior, obviously, is to set this from current fuel state in
fuel.nas, but that can be modified in a script.
