However, I can't see any commercial justification for GPLing all the textures, given that they are already fairly free for end-user use. In this case the textures themselves represent a very large part of his IP and business. In contrast, a lot of OSS businesses have professional services ontop of the GPL'd IP as the actual business, so the core software is not as important to them. On a more technical note - if we are offered a choice, it might be a good idea to discuss the sort of textures that would be particularly useful to the project. I've had a quick look through the site, and there aren't any that look particularly applicable as ground textures, but there are some nice elevation views of buildings which could be useful. -Stuart __ Sent from Yahoo! [Flightgear-devel] Texture contribution
Hi All, The maintainer of a textures website has offered some of his textures to be GPL'd and contributed to the project: http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=10163 On the assumption that we should take up his kind offer, who would like to be the point of contact? As anyone who has seen my attempts at aircraft texturing will attest, I'm certainly not an artist, and don't feel best placed to handle this. -Stuart __ Sent from Yahoo! Mail. Re: [Flightgear-devel] CVS: FlightGear/src/Main fg_commands.cxx, 1.100, 1.101
Sheesh ... another messed up log message: > Merge branch 'master' of ../.fg.osg Of course, I fix such botched log messages in CVS, so you'll get the right thing with $ cvs log fg_commands.cxx. It's just hard to revoke the cvslogs mails. (I also fix bugs in the git gateway that cause such problems. Note that these aren't git bugs!) The actual message is: revision 1.101 date: 2008-05-08 12:07:51 +0200; author: mfranz; state: Exp; [...] - rename fgcommand "set-mouse" to "set-cursor" - write new {x,y} coords to /devices/status/mice/mouse/{x,y}, so that they are immediately available m. - This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event. [Flightgear-devel] [patch] move most scenery-related code to simgear
hi, i have prepared a patch that moves most scenery-related code to simgear. namely following classes are moved to simgear/scene/tgdb/: ReaderWriterSTG TileEntry TileCache (renamed from FGNewCache) this move was needed to allow independent apps to use flightgear scenery. the app i made this for is a tool that does intersection testing on flightgear scenery. it is included as 0002-fg-add-an-elevation-util-0.0.4.patch sorry, this patch is a little large (which of course is natural, when moving files). it is *too large* even, for the ridiculous 40k limit on this list. cheers, -till http://flight.bux.at/0001-sg-move-most-scenery-related-code-to-simgear.patch http://flight.bux.at/0001-fg-move-most-scenery-related-code-to-simgear.patch http://flight.bux.at/0002-fg-add-an-elevation-util-0.0.4.patch - This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event.
