[Flightgear-devel] gui.nas error

2008-11-15 Thread Tatsuhiro Nishioka
Hi,

I got an nasal error with the latest src/data, which is caused by the update on
12th.
The error occurs at gui.nas:102 (below) inside the nasal-dir-initialized
listener func.

gui.nas:102:menuEnable(tutorial-start,
size(props.globals.getNode(/sim/tutorials).getChildren(tutorial)));

I think this is because the node /sim/tutorials is not yet initialized when
nasal-dir-initialized is raised.
This line should be called when fdm-initialized is raised.

Best,

Tat

If it didn't exist at nasal-dir-initialized time, then it will
likely not exist at fdm-initialized time either, as it's something
that's plugged into the property tree very early, long before
the Nasal module is even initialized. The cause is most likely
that I forgot the 1 in ...getNode(/sim/tutorials, 1)

My bad, I guess I sent it before copy-and-paste the error.

Here's the error I got:
Nasal runtime error: non-objects have no members

The node does exist at fgm-initialized since it is created by tutorial.nas when
nasal-dir-initialized is raised.
Here's the excerpt of tutorial.nas:

_setlistener(/sim/signals/nasal-dir-initialized, func {
markerN = props.globals.getNode(/sim/model/marker, 1);
headingN = props.globals.getNode(/orientation/heading-deg, 1);
slipN = props.globals.getNode(/orientation/side-slip-deg, 1);
time_elapsedN = props.globals.getNode(/sim/time/elapsed-sec, 1);
last_messageN = props.globals.getNode(/sim/tutorials/last-message, 1);
step_countN = props.globals.getNode(/sim/tutorials/step-count, 1);
step_timeN = props.globals.getNode(/sim/tutorials/step-time, 1);
setlistener(/sim/crashed, stopTutorial);
});

But your way also works, and it may be safer since it is just the matter of the
order of function invocation.
And... I found you already fixed gui.nas.

Thanks!

Tat

The funny thing is, if you are receiver of an error report,
you roll eyes if they aren't complete, but if you send one
yourself to another project, you make all those mistakes
yourself. Happens to me on a regular basis. :-)

Ah, yes, sure. That's the whole reason why the error didn't
occur before. And that was an accident, not design. (Not
good design, anyway. ;-)

Yes. This is only about aircraft not offering tutorials (the
majority), and we don't need tutorial.nas to tell us. Thanks
for bringing this up.

No problem at all. And thanks for the explanation.
It is good to know mechanisms and reasons behind a problem.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] FlightGear/CVS crashes on iMac with nVidia GeForce 7300GT

2008-11-15 Thread Tatsuhiro Nishioka
Hi,

I uploaded the latest FlightGear/CVS at sourceforge.
You can get it from:

http://macflightgear.sourceforge.net/home/downloads/

Clicking FlightGear-cvs-bin-20081116.dmg at the middle of the webpage for
getting the dmg file.

This version includes the bug fix for nVidia GeForce 7300GT.
It also contains 3D clouds.

 So this may be a processor related issue.

 Could you tell me what compiler options did you specify?
 I wonder if this problem happens when you specify no optimization
 including -O, -mtune, -march, and -msse.
 It is also possible that changing -arch option (i386 or -arch
 x86_64) might help you find what's wrong.

 Moreover, Does this or similar thing happens on other platforms with
 dual Xeon?

 Going to do more testing on this issue today, but could you also
 humour me by creating a new CVS build on macflightgear? It would also
 mean Mac people can try the 3D clouds, but selfishly it's so I can see
 how your compiler selection / flags work on my machine.

 can spend some time improving them.

 There are details of the XML format in

I began with making new cloud textures and shaping via xml. Creating clouds is
easier than I thought though it is a lot of work- like building an aircraft! ;-)

Here is a video featuring the 3d-clouds with new textures. I need still work on
shaping and creating the other cloud types- in the moment I have only Cumulus:

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=li8nb3rGuHA

Unfortunately the video is too compressed- It still needed an hour for upload
and another one for processing...
