the main keyboard. This is basically a usability discussion, so everyone will
have strong opinions :)

Hi James,

Personally, I use 'ctrl' a lot when making my own shortcuts (outside FG). I'm
sure I can't be the only Mac user to do this. An example: If you were to
allocate 'ctrl+s' to a common FG function, using 'ctrl+s' sends my Mac to
'Sleep' wether I am using an application or not. Perhaps it would be better to
go with the 'cmd' key on Macs.

I think removing old, out of date functions to make room for up to date ones is
a good idea though.

Wouldn't it be more sensible to ask their author (Skyop) to change them?

[Flightgear-devel] An empassioned plea

2012-04-13 Thread Vic Marriott
Hi,

More and more, the FG forums are showing that the most recent improvements,
added to the existing code, are too memory consuming for operation on anything
less than a high powered, up-to-date, well equipped computer.

Though I, and probably most other FG users, am delighted that improvements from
your efforts continue at such a rate, can I please ask the hard-core developers
to give some thought to making the current set of bells and whistles more
memory friendly.

There is little more frustrating than to read about the marvellous additions,
but then being unable to run them without FG slowing down to unusable levels.

There is only so much users can do to keep their computers as up-to-date as
possible, but simple things like the lack of funds can easily put a limit on
that.

Please consider having a concerted effort towards making FG less memory hungry.

Best regards,
Vic

[Flightgear-devel] Sun & Light placement

2011-08-18 Thread Vic Marriott
Hi All,

I am not blaming this on the new V 2.4.0, because this problem existed
before. I didn't want to distract anyone working on the new release.

1. I have noticed, that when at EGKA the light is showing from the
wrong direction. This pic was taken at 0915 today: http://i.imgur.com/N9wDU.png

2. At dusk, the Sun shows at 290º. This can't be correct as EGKA is
at 50.50º north. I would expect the Sun to be below 270º.

Is this a known fault, or should I raise it on the bug tracker?

[Flightgear-devel] Subject: Exporting .ac files from Blender

2010-03-10 Thread Vic Marriott

Hi Andrew,

I think you are going too deep. The problem happens when you import
the file. The textures are not imported with it.

The same applies if you import to Blender with the intention of
exporting it to a third party application like Sketchup. The textures
are lost, though plain colours are imported. You must re-texture the
completed model before you export to .ac.

Hope that helps,

2 things just don't seem right:
