[Flightgear-users] Harrier Flight Model

2003-08-14 Thread Allan West

Hi there,

I was quite excited to find the Harrier flight
model. First I notice there is not a 3D Cockpit or Aircraft Model for
it. How do I go about creating these. I am lucky enough to have 3DS
max and the skills to use it.

Also what are the extra controls for the harrier -
namely the nozzle swivel. Any tips on how flightgear is used to control
this beast would be gratefully received. I had many a happy hour with AV8B
- although this was more of a game than a sim but it was still predictably
tricky landing in the hover.

Cheers,
Al

No, since there was a lot of talk about working direct from the DAFIF
data, which would basically have made it redundant.
Pitty.
I'm not sure that's a good idea.

Hi,

I am running FG on windows 2000 and have a MS Sidewinder Force Feedback
Precision Pro 2 USB joystick.

FG detects just a normal joystick 3 axis (pitch, roll, throttle) how
do I get it to work with all four axis the PoV hat and the buttons.
It could be a naming issue. We've had that joysticks have a different
name under windows.

Could you give the output of js_demo.

Also an explanation of how I can change button and PoV hat allocations
would be nice too.
Here's a document that would be helpful:

SuSE Linux 8.2 --- I have modded the kernel and compiled in the mods,
lsusb sees them both, on js_demo/jstest they both look good, the Pedals
as /dev/js0 and the Yoke as /dev/js1, but they do not work in fgfs (I
think 0.9.2 or may be CVS got 17th. July). I can vaguely remember having
to change joystick.xml going back quite a while, but have no record of
what was done. Trying with fgfs --control=joystick.
What is the output of js_demo.

I think you should switch over to flightgear-devel when you

Ah, I thought I did have the development stuff, obviously confused
being new to this. Also starting to wonder if I am getting all the
mail as I do not remember seeing anything on this yesterday (stuck
with comcast and paranoid about it :( ).

Sorry to be the one who breaks it to you, but... I think Erik was
referring to the flightgear-devel *mailing-list*...

Enjoy the CVS version... I find it fascinating to just update the source,
compile, and discover whole new wonders each time.

[Flightgear-users] Help getting started

2003-08-14 Thread Bob Stia
Hello,

Downloaded all the necessary tar files, plib,Simgear, base, Flightgear.
All that were needed for 9.2

Couldn't get plib or Simgear to compile. Complaints about GLU or glut.
I do have libGLU.so.1, so.1,3, and libmesaGLU.so.3 in /usr/lib Read
the install for both packages and tried the various options. No Good.
Still would not compile. Gave up.

I am running SuSE8.2 all packages fully up to date using apt-get.
Using apt-get I downloaded plib which is a later version than needed.
Doesn't seem to be a SimGear available on apt-get. Then downloaded
FlightGear (0.9.1) and it installed. Both are rpm's. The program will
start, sometimes with a night scene and sometimes with a twilight
scene. Most of the instruments do not work, such as the airspeed
indicator, vsi, altimeter, etc. The aircraft is extremely unstable and I
will always crash almost immediately after getting it off the ground.

Hope someone can help me get either of these two methods working,

Bob S. N96ES
