How your desktop is configured ? do you allocated enough colors ?

Well if i set the colordepth to 24 bit it works. but cant play full 
screen. by the way i wasnt even using the 3dclouds

Thank you Ron.
I just solved the problem by removing the yast2 installed older version of 
openal.

but the whole programm ist damn slow.
lets see how i can fix that.

Actually i got the latest openal update using
cvs -d:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/local/cvs-repository 
login
(use password guest)
cvs -d:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/local/cvs-repository 
co openal

somehow the error still exists.
Any suggestions?
