RE: FLUXLIST: Your Kind of Town? THANKS MADAWG!
Hi Don, et.al. I sent a reply earlier in the week, but I don't think it went through... I wish you had more time in the Chicago area while I was there - it would've been good to see you! We probably passed on the street and didn't know it. I was in town attending/presenting at a conference. Though I didn't see the works of any former professors, I did see lots of actual former professors. I did spend quite a bit of time at the Art Institute where I spent entirely too much time looking at the Cornell collection. Then went to the Mus. of Contemporary Art where I hoped to spend too much time in the Warhol exhibition, but aside from the films, it was lackluster (no surprise, really). The rest of the MCA was great, though. AND A BIG THANKS TO MADAWG who put me in touch with her dear friend John Held, Jr. John included me in a dinner gathering at the home of Picasso Gaglione where lovely Darlene prepared a delectable southwest feast. I spent entirely too much time looking at their rubber stamp collection, among other things, and enjoyed an evening with great company. Upon leaving, Picasso graced me with a Fluxus rubber stamp box-set from the days of yore, and John generously shared some of his Duchamp-inspired stamps. Thanks again, Madawg - Sorry I missed you, Don! Saw two of my former teachers' sculpturePeter Fagan of Un. of Illinois and Mirko Basadella from Harvard Design School.
