Re: FLUXLIST: Fwd: FYI...radical software

2004-01-22 Thread VoicesNtheHive

This may be a long letter. you may want to skip it.

Hey great link to radical software Video is a passion of mine. and reading about radical software has reinforced my inner feelings in a time when I have difficulty in finding the words. I hate explaining to people why I do what I do, and how do you find a market. It's tough. whats really tough is dealing with people who do video professionally. I wonder if they know or care what frank gillete Micheal shamburg beryl kerot nam jun paik meant. In a Nutshell video was a radical Idea to create TV for yourself. And now that I've only been doing this roughly 4 years i really noticedthe time I spent making things and the less amount time spent watching tv.

As Non pro as I am. I saw video really as a way to let images happen on their own. Like moving collage. I suppose I could be expressing myself. But i don't know if I am nor care at this moment. How this is happening is I'm working with video tape. Snobs look downon me.well at at least one does. At thats because i'm not one of his students. I don't know how to use Final cut pro or avidand so on. i'd like to if I could get the feel that i could edit spontaneously. yes anolog doesn't have the fantastic resolution as digital. But Can't I at least be respected for being more old school? I'm not trying to cut in their territory. they can have their digital world. Two years ago I had the worst exhibition ever with another video artist. It was so competive I hated it. he was pro and worked for a production company. Me of course with my ratty old tv sets and my videos playing on the second level of the gallery. to be brief, my work was messy scratchy and noisy. but most of his stuff looked like common everyday screen savers on you computer screen. The horror stories can go on and on but I won't bore you with the details.

Again I'd liked to end the note by saying thanks for the radical software page.

FLUXLIST: Game of cards, anyone?

2004-01-22 Thread Roger Stevens

Hi, welcome all you new people to the
Fluixlist

Heres a project you might be
interested in

FLUXUS PLAYING CARDS Candace LeClaire

I am trying to compose a deck of Fluxus playing
cards.

From the entries, I will create an edition of 52 cards.

Black and white or colour are
fine.

Digital files of playing cards may be emailed to

me
off list at: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

(or on-list if you want to
share).

You may also send something via post mail to me at :

Candace LeClaire

RULES FOR FLUXUS PLAYING CARDS Roger
Stevens

We need rules to play the game. It should be quite
interesting writing

the
rules before anyone's seen the cards. Terrorist snap, anyone?

Remember a four of Machine Guns always beats a seven
of Timing Fuses.

And the King of Hearts is wild. This is because the
five of pumpkins has

run
off with the Queen of Desire to set up home by the River Severn.

Meanwhile who would make a bid of Six No Frumps?

Send Fluxus games, rules for games and any other odd
things that you think should be in the rulebook to

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

GENERAL

This project started a long time ago got kind
of lost and run out of steam a bit and recently has been revived.

I guess the deadline will be when Candace has received
52 cards.

So, why not have a go. The cards can look like
anything, I guess, thats down to your imagination and creativity.

Therell probably be standard card size and
shape from a practical playing point of view but thats
probably the only restriction.

So

Have a go.
