[Bug 1753295] Pango has dropped support for non-Opentype bitmap fonts
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1753295 --- Comment #116 from Fedora Program Management --- This message is a reminder that Fedora 32 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 32 on 2021-05-25. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '32'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 32 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ fonts-bugs mailing list -- fonts-bugs@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to fonts-bugs-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/fonts-bugs@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam on the list, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure

See https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/pango/-/issues/386#note_567356 This discussion involved upstream fonttools developers as well so why insist for fonttools component? https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1753295 --- Comment #110 from Jan Pazdziora --- That helped. I've now built fonttosfnt-x 1.1.0 with the https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/app/fonttosfnt/-/merge_requests/7 applied into https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/adelton/fedora-fixes/ and I've rebuilt bitmap-fonts with the change from https://src.fedoraproject.org/fork/pwu/rpms/bitmap-fonts/commits/fonttosfnt using that fonttosfnt-x and now LucidaTypewriter Sans 9 from bitmap-lucida-typewriter-opentype-fonts-0.3-35.ad1.fc32.noarch in xfce4-terminal under pango-1.44.7-2.fc32.x86_64 is displayed exactly like the old bitmap font under pango-1.43.0-4.fc30.x86_64. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1753295 --- Comment #108 from Jan Pazdziora --- Thanks. The output is the same as with the PCF approach, more vertical space. During the build I've noticed LucidaTypewriter-Sans.otb fonttosfnt -b -c -g 2 -m 2 -o LucidaTypewriter-Sans.otb lutRS08.bdf lutRS10.bdf lutRS12.bdf lutRS14.bdf lutRS18.bdf lutRS19.bdf lutRS24.bdf You are requesting to put more than one font into a single OpenType font.
