RE: Display of variable content in Structured FM

2007-04-02 Thread Nantel, Elise

Dan,

I did what you suggested (create a new character format for Verdana,
then include it in the definition of my variables). For the text that is
directly typed in the file (as opposed as in a text inset), I need to
remove the variable then insert it again; otherwise, weirdly enough, the
variable is displayed in a bigger font than that of the body text (but
in Verdana).
The newly inserted variable is displayed in the proper font and size,
and it remains like that after importing the variables.

For a text inset, an extra step is required. I imported the changed
variables and character format in it. It's displayed OK when I look at
the file; however, after importing the variables in the container file,
the variables are displayed as Times. I need to explicitly update the
text inset to clear the Times.

A big thank you Dan,

Elise

hyperlink text in online help

2007-04-02 Thread Jon Harvey

Hi All,

I am trying to create hyperlinks in nonstructured FM so that when I
import it into Flare 2.5, the links open in a new window. The marker
text ideas I've tried are Message URL, which opens in the same window as
the source, and Newlink, which removes the hyperlink for the text.

I would like to solve the problem in FM rather than Flare so that I
don't have to fix the problem in Flare each time I import the document.

Any ideas on this?

Hi Gillian

If you look in your postscript settings on the printer
dialog there will be an option that says something like
Optimize for speed change this to Optimize for portability.
Speed gives a shorthand version of postscript which confuses
some printers, while portability includes everything (this is
how it was explained to me not sure if it is correct or not
but generally fixes the crazy stack errors).

I recommend percussive maintenance. PC Load Letter? WTF does that mean? ;-)

Make sure the printer is config'd to handle the fonts and such. Might
also be good to see if the printer is using the right driver.

RE: Can't print from Frame

2007-04-02 Thread Daniel Doornbos
When I have encountered this error, it was because of a problematical
EPS graphic in the document.
The faulty graphic overloads the printer's memory, hence the stack
error, and the printer outputs PostScript code, rather than interpreting
the code and printing the document properly.

Does this happen with all documents sent from your PC to this printer?
If so, I would verify that you have the correct printer driver on your
PC.

If the problem happens only on a specific document, try printing a few
pages at a time, until you isolate the page with the troublesome EPS
graphic. Then delete the EPS graphics on that page and try printing
again. If the page prints, the graphic or one of the graphics on that
page is the offender.

Or, if your document isn't too long or complez, you could delete all the
EPS graphics from the document. Then add them back one-by-one until you
find the graphic that causes the problem.
