RE: PowerPoint to Framemaker
One should be very careful in using RTF as the means of transferring PowerPoint slides to a FrameMaker document. The last several versions of Microsoft Office applications support live transparency (drop shadows, reflections, clipped images, etc.) and saving to RTF from these applications supports this. However, FrameMaker's imaging model does not support live transparency in any way. Transparency effects from RTF will likely be lost or misinterpreted when brought into a FrameMaker document. Thus, is you want the highest fidelity for such PowerPoint slides when importing into FrameMaker, use the Acrobat Save as PDF function from Microsoft PowerPoint and then import into FrameMaker. Such content is obviously not editable, but will maintain graphical integrity. If you need to be able to edit the slide content in FrameMaker, RTF is a solution as long as you understand that you will probably not maintain graphical integrity! - Dov From: framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com [mailto:framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com] On Behalf Of Alan Litchfield Sent: Friday, October 07, 2011 8:39 PM To: Rick Quatro Cc: framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: Re: PowerPoint to Framemaker Or export from Powerpoint as rtf. Frame 8 crashing on opening
All, Any suggestions for this problem out of the blue? Internal Error 8004, 7072680, 7074223, 6295985. FrameMaker has detected a serious problem and must quit. FM 8 didn't crash with an open file previously. It was working fine until today. Now, it won't open either on several different FM files or just standalone. Hadn't changed anything Frame related recently. My os is Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate Edition. I uninstalled FM 8 and reinstalled. Still getting this error. Frame 10 does open fine but my client only has 8 and they don't want to upgrade (not in the budget). Haven't had any issues in months w/ FM. Googled but haven't found anything that worked. Can't open Frame so several tricks can't be tried (like the corrupt user.dict). Suggestions? Table templates (FrameMaker 10)
Hello Rick, I wrestled with a similar problem (I think), to get a few icons such as check mark, note icon, caution icon, book icon from micro tables in FrameMaker 10 to show up in Robohelp. After following several threads on discussion boards with no luck, I mentioned the problem to one of our engineers. She suggested using the icon as a background image for the paragraph in the Robohelp style sheet. This worked beautifully. Then all I had to do was map the FrameMaker paragraph style for the cell containing the image to the Robohelp paragraph style containing a background image. Maybe this tactic will work with your step number images. FrameMaker 10: Changing rule colors in a Table Format
Hi All, I'm new to the list, so apologies if this has been answered before: How can I change the colors of the rules (lines) when creating a Table Format in an FM template? The Table Designer allows for shading colors, but not rule colors. I've tried changing the color using: Table Format Custom Ruling and Shading which works for that particular table, but the info is not retained in the Table Format when the file is saved. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. Many thanks - Steve Whalley ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com.
