Checking Pagination should do the trick -you don't have to edit style as well.
Just check Pagination for your Heading 1 and Heading 2 and Title if you have
something like that.

Apologies for incomplete/distorted information.

I'm using a demo version of TCS 3.5 (FM 10.0.1.408 & RH 9.0.1.262) on
Windows Vista (fully patched).

I'm trying to split on FM styles "heading 1" and "heading 2".
The formats are mapped.

I selected "Pagination", and then after clicking "Edit Style", I
selected Format> Paragraph> New Page.

In response to:

Jeff Coatsworth:
That should work - you're sure that the FM doc has "Heading1" as its paragraph
format? What versions of FM and RH are you using?

Bill Swallow:

Part of TCS?

Separating data in a Single FrameMaker File

2011-10-17 Thread George, Brenda (CAI)
We are attempting to take a FrameMaker file that contains a large number of
individual mutual fund files and break out each mutual fund into individual
files.

There is an automated process that was internally created to do this, but it is
not functioning properly. In order to break out each file we use each funds
unique product code. In addition to separating each fund the program also
removed sector tabs in each file and the page numbers.

Is there a fast way that we can break this data out within a FrameMaker file?

insufficient memory to import file

2011-10-17 Thread Eric Dunn
Well, it's been a long time since I've done more than browse the
messages from the Framerslist.

Hopefully someone might be able to help me though.

When opening xml files with CGM graphics, I keep getting the message
"insufficient memory to import file" in the XML Read Report Log.
Graphics elements are stripped from the document and the document
becomes invalid. Not to mentions this is disastrous if the error is
overlooked and the file is saved. All graphics need to be re-imported.

How to display table title in text inset?

2011-10-17 Thread Gay Alson
Happy Monday morning, Framers,

I have a .fm source file that I want to use as a text inset. It contains
a table with a format in Table Designer defined as Title: Above Title.
In Paragraph Designer, the Table Title paragraph tag includes
autonumbering. In the source file, the table title appears correctly.
When I import the file into a destination doc, the autonumbering updates
but the table title is missing. That is, I see "Table 18:" instead of
"Table 18: Install Options"

I've imported table formats and paragraph formats from the same template
into both the source and the destination files. Does anyone know the
answer to this mystery?

TIA,

~~Gay

Japanese sort order in indexes

2011-10-17 Thread Celine Deguire
Hello

I would like to know how to define the Japanese sort order in FrameMaker 8.
I've searched online and the best result is an Adobe PDF about asian
languages for Framemaker 7 which is unclear. I am unsure whether this
subject was previously addressed and I apologize if it has.

Thanks in advance

 wrote:

The problem with Japanese is that it is not sorted
by the Unicode character order of the displayed
glyphs (which are usually katakana). Instead, it
is sorted according to the pronunciation of the
words, as given in a different script, kanji.
The software has no idea what the kanji is, so
you have to provide it by the usual Frame sort
order method, in []s for every single index entry.
Naturally this requires a Japanese native speaker.

Once you have all the kanji, and have the Japanese
version of the SortOrderIX entry on the index
reference page, you should be good to go. If you
can't find the kanji sort order, let me know and
I'll dig through archives here for one we used
while testing.

Re: Japanese sort order in indexes

HTH!

RE: Question on FF -> RH conversion

2011-10-17 Thread Jeff Coatsworth
That should work - you're sure that the FM doc has "Heading1" as its paragraph
format? What versions of FM and RH are you using?

Subject: Question on FF -> RH conversion

I'm trying to move a FM book to RH to produce Eclipse Help output.
Where I'm breaking my brain is on trying to get the RH import to split
off a new topic at each Level1 Head.
I've set the import (.isf) file to paginate on Heading1, but that does
not seem to split the files as desired.
What am I missing?
(or do the FM files need to be split from chapters into 1-page topics
separately?)

Thanks!

Japanese sort order in indexes

2011-10-17 Thread Celine Deguire
Hello

I would like to know how to define the Japanese sort order in FrameMaker 8.
I've searched online and the best result is an Adobe PDF about asian
languages for Framemaker 7 which is unclear. I am unsure whether this
subject was previously addressed and I apologize if it has.

Thanks in advance
