Thanks. WizMouse is great. It also replaces the new for Freewheel for
scrolling in Frame.

Thanks for support on list of paragraph properties

2011-11-23 Thread Studio Smalbro

Hi folks
Thanks for the good answers on how to generate a list of paragraph
properties. I dug down in the backup archives and voila - I actually
already had MifMuncher - but had forgotten all about in the years gone by.

Thanks to all who responded

2011-11-23 Thread Garnier Garnier
Hello Listers,

Thanks for providing different options to extract text from jpeg files.

I was provided a scanned manual (jpeg) that was converted to pdf and I wanted
to extract and use some of the text.

I finally purchased Abby FineReader - OCR software (www.abbyy.com ) from a
retailer and could easily extract the required contents. Personally I found it
easy to use except that the text needs to be reformated.

Once again thanks to each of you who responded. It is sincerely appreciated.

THANKS

Updating book-wide paragraphs/elements?

2011-11-23 Thread Alan Houser

Hi All,

I'm having trouble getting FrameMaker to update book-wide lists of
paragraph formats and elements. This shows up in the following
places:
- Cross-reference dialog
- Edit Set up Table of Contents
- File Save as PDF PDF Setup Bookmarks

The list of paragraph formats/elements appears to be "old" -- it's
not updated as I add new elements/para formats to book components
(fm binary, both structured and unstructured). Nor do element
context labels appear. I feel like the list is being cached
somewhere, and not cleared/updated.

I'm running Windows Vista. I noticed this behavior after I installed
the 10.0.2 patch, but I'm not certain the two are connected.

Is anybody else seeing this?

RE: Training for FrameMaker 10 and S1000D

Hi Nadine,

Thank you for the recommendation for our training. At the moment, we're not
offering S1000D/FrameMaker 10 training. This is something we are working
toward offering in the future.

You might want to contact Front Runner in Toronto
(http://www.front-runner.com/). I don't see course for that on their Web
site, but they might be able to help you in some way.

Subject: Training for FrameMaker 10 and S1000D

T o anyone offering FrameMaker training:

S1000D is a documentation standard that was developed in Europe for
military use, but is now being widely adopted by Aerospace companies
around the world. Theoretically, it's a framework to create any kind of
documentation, from paper parts lists to maintenance procedures with 3D
graphics on your iPhone, all from information modules stored in a
central database. It's a nice vision of the future, but getting from
here to there is the big (expensive) problem.

FrameMaker 10 seems to have quite a lot of S1000D support built in, such
as the means to interact with a common source database and the ability
to validate data modules against business rules, etc., but we are having
trouble making any practical use of it.

Is anyone offering a course yet on using FrameMaker to support an S1000D
implementation? We have been to some free seminars and watched plenty of
Webinars, but they were mostly sales pitches on the benefits of the
standard without any practical value. We need to move ahead with a real
solution, because we have customers that are starting to request
documentation that meets the new standard.

I would love to hear from any of you trainers about what resources you
have available. We would really like to keep using FrameMaker as the
basis for our documentation, rather than start with something completely
new. It would be a big plus if the training was available in the Seattle
 area.

 Thanks,

 Clint

Great, Rick. Missed the announcement from Lynda.com (if there was one)
about FM10. Still no help with structured frame, however. :-(

Gentle ribbing: close-nit? Granted they may be nitpickers, but you
probably meant close-knit.
