maker.ini files for FM version 6
Dear all Working on an overview of entries in maker.ini I'm lacking information about FM versions 3 (the first Windows version) to 5.5.6. My oldest version is 6 (I had 'once upon a time' FM-4 (and later) in use - but not on my personal computer). BTW: even version 6 can be used on Win 7 (but don't know where the hickups will start). So my question is: can any nice person from the Frame community provide maker.ini files from these old FM versions? It would be great to make my collection complete. Any of the older (pre FM 6) online manuals would also be great - Frame Technology was quit open with this kind of information. Photo Truncation in Frame to PDF Creation
I saw a recent sidebar comment that a list member was finding photos truncated in pdf output. There is a long-time bug in FrameMaker that impacts photos/files imported and rotated, such as you might do with a landscape panoramic to make it fit the long way in a portrait file. If the long dimension of the rotated file is less than the page width it will not be truncated and if greater it will be truncated. If you rotate in Frame, you will find the photo truncated to the width of the portrait page size in pdf output, with white space above/below. So any rotated landscape photo, as an example, will be restricted to portrait width in the pdf, even though there is plenty of room for it on the page. It looks OK in Frame, which can really set you up for a hit. My solution is to rotate the photo in a photo editor prior to importing into Frame. Then all is good, as Frame is not doing the rotation. If anyone else has a solution I would like to hear it. Oran Petersen ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. Send list messages to framers@lists.frameusers.com. Photo Truncation in Frame to PDF Creation
Oran, Thanks so much for this. Odd, I've never had this problem before, and even this document I have turned into a PDF and it didn't do this. It was just on Tuesday when I needed a new version and turned it into a PDF, the photo was truncated. I found a work around (smaller photo), but your work around is better. Unless, as you ask there is a better solution.
