Confluence 4 export: the one feature that would justify my upgrading from FM10

It's not at all standard XHTML. Confluence 4.x
has a unique format that you cannot produce from
normal XHTML. Mif2Go *does* produce the format
used by Confluence, as described in the DITA2Go
User's Guide par. 22.9, "Generating XHTML for
Confluence 4.x", available at:
  http://dita2go.com

Note that the process described for DITA2Go works
exactly the same in Mif2Go; it just isn't in the
Mif2Go User's Guide yet, and also you do need to
download the current Mif2Go beta components.

AFAIK, Mif2Go is currently the only product that
supports Confluence 4.x from Frame, and DITA2Go is
the only one supporting it from DITA.

It occurs to me that there's really only one feature that would justify the
expense of my upgrading from FM10: export to and import from Confluence 4.

Export would allow me to put drafts on the wiki for review, comment, and
revision.

Import would allow me to bring such revisions back into FrameMaker for
release. It would also allow me to import drafts of new documents written by
SMEs.

(WebWorks ePublisher can publish FrameMaker docs to Confluence 3, but it
doesn't work well enough with Confluence 4, which uses XHTML instead of wiki
markup.) ___

Soory about that! I had set it to "public", but the
directory where Drupal put the PDFs wasn't. Fixed now.

ANN: List of FrameMaker Utilities and Plugins, v4.0, now available

2012-11-18 Thread Lin Sims
For those interested, the list update has been completed.

Jeremy Griffith is kindly hosting it on his site, and you can find it here:

http://mif2go.com/framemaker-resources

If you can't get to the web site, contact me off-list and I'll email
you directly.

Don't forget Scott Prentice's Tool Search, which will also give you
information on FrameScripts.

http://leximation.com/toolsearch/

There are two lists this time through; one sorted by the name of the
utility/plugin and one sorted by the supplier. I've also added a table
for plugins that are, as far as I can determine, no longer publicly
available.

Corrections, additions, deletions, etc., are welcome.

Re: Japan translation and dtp

2012-11-18 Thread simandl
Jacob,

Hello. For the Japanese DTP, I recommend that you use the following fonts:

Kozuka Mincho Pro (KozMinPro) (for the substitution of serif font)
Kozuka Gothic Pro (KozGoPro) (for the substitution of sans-serif font)

These fonts may be included in the font set of the Acrobat Pro, so you
may have already installed them, and you can embed them to the PDF.

I use the FrameMaker in my office only and I'm in my home now, so
I cannot advise about the detailed settings for the Japanese composition
(Kumihan). But if you have any questions, please post them to this ML.

Best Regards,
Hirofumi
