The "as is" attribute is used to specify that the style will not affect the given property when the style is applied to existing text. Hi Winifred It's not that I have more than one checkbox checked, it's that the checkmark shows for both Lower Case and Upper case when I select each option from the dropdown menu (which is truly weird). This hasn't affected any of the other new styles I created or the ones I updated. I won't get back to the template until late this afternoon, at which point I'll give your MIF scenario a try. Just change this to No. Save and open in FrameMaker. If this is not the case, your description does not match my Paragraph Designer. Hmm, I just looked at my copy of the template pack and the square behind the chapter number is missing. How annoying. The good news is that if you click File > Document > New and then click Explore Standard Templates at the bottom of the page, there's one with the color block under User Guide > Chapter. You should be able to replace that color block with your customer's graphic. If you put an appropriately sized version of it on a reference page, you should be able to bring it in with Frame Above or Frame Below paragraph for the section numbers and page numbers. [Framers] Needed: A template god/goddess
So, My longtime template goddess has retired and I am in need of some assistance in setting up some aspects of my FM template (I have FM2019). Some parts of the template are a no-brainer, but others are going to require that an auto-numbered paragraph tag to be displayed in the middle of a specific graphic/icon - it's essentially my client's preferred symbol (a geometric shape) and color and in the middle of this the chapter number must be displayed and they would also like a smaller version of this for the page number and a section number. Yea, I could figure it out if I mucked around for a while, but I am slammed w/ the writing deadline for this and beyond basic template setup (like a line under a chapter title - woo hoo!) I tend to go for very basic templates and focus on the writing . . . which is what they hired me to do. Hi Alison, Do you have this issue for all paragraphs? No matter in which paragraph your insertion mark is? If only in a specific paragraph, there is a special paragraph property which you can see only in MIF. This would allow only that you enter text, but you cannot change the paragraph format. Enter some characters which you can find easily, e.g. ü. Then convert to MIF, open in a text editor and search for these characters. The paragraph could have a property nach . Just change this to No. Save and open in FrameMaker. If this is not the case, your description does not match my Paragraph Designer. I have only a single checkbox for Small Caps/Uppercase/Lowercase and not two as you describe. I am editing and creating new Para styles and for some reason, when I set the Font characteristics for an incredibly simple (new) style, it won't retain a specific setting. Namely, Frame seems to be "insisting" that the style include the checkboxes for both Lower Case and Upper Case (all lower case is the winner as I can't enter an upper case letter in the text). No matter how many times I deselect the checkboxes, no matter the order of deselection and Update Style, they always reapply themselves. Have I found some weird bug or am I doing something wrong? Note that this hasn't affected any of the other new and updated styles I've worked on so far. FYI: The style uses 11 pt regular Calibri, with 12 points below and a 6mm hanging indent.
