Sorting a table in Japanese
Dear Framers, I know this issue has been dealt with more than once because I've come across a question from the Framers list of some years back which describes our same problem: Hello, I work with Frame 6. I am trying to sort a table in Japanese (which is a glossary). How can I do that ? How can I tell Framemaker to take into account Hiragana and Katakana characters instead of sorting alphabetically? For the index file, I managed to do it modifying the master page. But there does not seem to be anything similar for a non-generated file. Thank you in advance for any help on this. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an answer posted to the list. Does anyone know if there is an easy way to do this, short of manually shuffling the order of the Japanese glossary? Thanks for the feedback Linda. Actually, I found an answer on The Helpware Group's website, http://helpware.net/FAR/far_faq.htm. This is what they say: Why does my CHM window show the title "HTML Help " instead of my title? HTML Help is not a Unicode application, and there is a risk of showing garbage characters if the primary language ID of the CHM does not match the primary language ID of the systems LCID (for example a KOR help title displayed on a Japanese OS). The caveat here is when the help title is compiled as English. English help titles can display their titlebar string on all operating systems since all of the code pages support English. Unfortunately the check is too strict. Only the Primary Language ID should be checked, however HH also checks the Secondary Language ID causing say Portuguese (Brazil) help to display HTML Help on a Portuguese (Portugal) PC. In the case of English help, in the past all help had to be set to English (US). This bug was fixed in HH 1.31? and now English (Australian) help for example will display correctly on all systems. -Original Message- From: Linda G. Many thanks for your advice Dov. We are using Acro 7 now. Bedded it down almost a year ago now. We always send our printers "press quality" PDFs in full colour and we've never had any problems. However, we're recently changed printers who are requesting grayscale PDFs. When you say "as long as NONE of your content is EPS or PDF containing color", are you talking about embedded files in FrameMaker? If so, no problem. Except that the printer is now complaining about graphics quality. But I searched hi and lo in the Acro Distiller Color options and found no option to convert to grayscale. Does such an option exist? Grayscale PDFs
