Flow problems in FM10

2011-07-06 Thread Cal Callahan
Back to FM after years away, creating my first template from scratch (not
well). I have text flow A starting on pg. 2 of doc, can’t add text frame now
to start the beginning of that text in a page 1 text frame. FM window says
text added to end of flow, want it at beginning. Tried splitting
connecting text frames in various ways with no luck. What am I doing wrong?
(Or not doing.)

Work with a generic default template. Modify the master pages, not the
body pages. Flow A will be pre-defined for you; all you have to do is
resize/reposition as needed.

Page Flow Problems

2010-04-22 Thread George, Brenda (CAI)
I am flowing xml files into Structured FrameMaker. I am trying to get the final
element to flow into the back cover master page. I have mapped the element that
needs to be flowed to the back cover page using the StructMasterPageMaps. The
element is not flowing to that page. Instead it is flowing to the top of the
previous master page, then a new back cover page is being generated after that.
How do I get the element to flow into the back cover page?

Master Page Flow Problems

2010-04-12 Thread George, Brenda (CAI)
I am trying to flow 4 xml documents into structured FrameMaker template that is
4 pages. The last page has 3 different master page versions. I have set the
StructMasterPageMaps up to direct the page flow for the final page to the
correct back page master page, depending on the value for the version
attribute. The data is not flowing correctly. The master page that precedes
this back master page is 2 column. If the data for this page only flows into
the first column, and the second column is empty, the back page data flows into
the correct version of the back master page. If the second column has data in
it, the back page flows onto a new page but applies the master page used by the
preceding data. It doesn't apply the correct back master page version.

Does anyone know how I can correct this?

Flow Problems

2006-03-20 Thread Karen L. Zorn
I'm designing templates for a new project that have 2 content flows: student
(A), instructor (B). The object is that the instructor content is the left
page, student the right. Before publication, the instructor content is
conditionalized and hidden, then a different master page applied to the even
pages so the resulting student workbook is double sided. Each master page
has a very small (0.017 x 0.017) text frame of the opposite flow in the
upper left corner.

Should work like a charm, I've done it before--not today! When the
transition is made at the bottom of the flow, it seems that a single
character gets hung up in the frame on the wrong page. I can force the text
using "new page" formats, but that will create problems at production. Any
ideas:
