Re: [Framers] Problems in multiple flows?

While you can set multiple flows to Autoconnect, in reality only the one
that makes the new page autoconnects to the previous frame.

Main text (flow A) and sidebar (flow B). Ideally, neither should run over to
a second page, but this will be a multi-page document.

Is that's the intended behavior, it sucks. Why would I want an
auto-connected flow to disconnect itself?

I am pretty sure that is how it works when you have multiple flows. What are
you using the second flow for? Thanks.

I'm building a template that has 2 flows (A and B). Each flow appears on
every page and I've checked that Autoconnect is enabled in text frames on
master and body pages. The problem is when one flow overflows and creates
new page, the other flow is disconnected from its flow on the new page.

FrameMaker 2017, Windows.

Any help will be appreciated.

Compare: Multiple Flows with same name

2010-08-18 Thread Donald M Rinderknecht

I guess it's my day for Frame questions

Seeing this in both FM8 and FM9.

I'm comparing two docs that I KNOW are different. When I run the Compare
utility, I get a dialog that says there are multiple Flows with the same
name ('A') and the flows will be ignored. The compare comes back as the
two files being identical.

When I try to look for the multiple flows, I only see one. Any advice on
finding the multiple flows of the same name?

Thanks,
Don

Well, searching for \f finds the ends of flows, but since each table cell is a
flow, that gets pretty tedious if the doc contains tables. With the cursor at
what you think is the start of the main flow, select all in flow (Ctrl+a). Then
page through the document and look for what's not selected.

This message is often related to text frames with "A" flow present in the
reference page(s) of the documents being compared (which is of no practical
significance and should have been ignored).

I suggest starting by inspecting the reference pages for such text frames
and fixing as necessary (Graphics > Object Properties; clear the tag name).
