RE: Commenting in PDF files from Acrobat 6.0
The first thing I'd suggest is to look at the security settings. 'Ctrl+d' will display them; it's possible that comments are disabled. -HTH, Nicole -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] .com] On Behalf Of Jon Harvey Sent: Monday, April 17, 2006 2:36 PM To: framers@lists.frameusers.com Subject: OT:Commenting in PDF files from Acrobat 6.0 Hi all, One of my colleagues created a PDF of her document and is passing it around to reviewers for comment. Trouble is, the reviewers can't add comments and she doesn't know why. This is the first time she's done it and doesn't know whether it's her security settings, preferences, or version of the software. She is using the full version of Acrobat 6.0. Does 6.0 allow recipients to comment or does she have to upgrade to Acrobat 7.0 or 7.0 Pro? I have 7.0 Pro on my machine and haven't had any problems. RE: Commenting in PDF files from Acrobat 6.0
She needs to use Acrobat 7 Pro if she wants to get the full advantage of the commenting feature. It's a great feature with very few problems (for its first release). I'd recommend it to anyone who is tired of getting comments back in varied formats. The auto online help feature is great as well. RE: Commenting in PDF files from Acrobat 6.0
Hi, Jon: Are there error messages? They would help to focus the trouble shooting. More likely, the problem stems from a combination of Acrobat 7 settings and whatever Acrobat viewers are used to view the file. In Acrobat 7 Professional, Document Enable For Commenting in Acrobat Reader is a new setting that works with Reader 7 to do what it says. You don't state if your colleague can open and comment her own documents in her Acrobat 6. If her reviewers can't open her files for commenting, they may have a version of Reader. So, the two-part solution might be: * Save the files in Acrobat 7 Professional with Document Enable for Commenting * Have reviewers use Reader 7 to comment the files.
