Not in the sense that you mean it, Rick. The brief was to give the authors a writing environment that allowed them to reproduce as closely as possible to appearance of the final book. In the end we did that with a combination of structured FrameMaker and SiliconPrairies' 'Autotext' plug-in. Building it all was a major undertaking, as the design had been created , probably in Quark, by someone with no knowledge of FrameMaker and its (few) limitations. -- Steve ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. RE: FrameMaker 10 Officially Demonstrated At tekom Conference
Hi Stuart, No. RJ Jacquez focused on new features and not on bugs. Maybe you should ask whether you can join the beta program. Then you can check this yourself. And you can help make the next FrameMaker version more stable. However, Michael Müller-Hillebrand told me that he wrote an event script which refreshes the screen after each key press (only when there is a paragraph with space below of e.g. -20 pt and the next paragraph has space above of -20 pt; this is sometimes necessary to align a symbol to the following text; without this refresh the text would be invisible). Hi, I attended this presentation as well. RJ Jacquez said that he presented in public. No-one signed a non-disclosure agreement. Therefore all are allowed to discuss the features in public. I noted these features: Auto-spellcheck, similar to Word with a wavy line S1000D support Alert strings like missing fonts, old FM version etc. can be switched off Drag drop Table catalogue Catalogues can be customized to show only used or unused or specific fonts Background colour as a new character property Photoshop filter Import of swf and other video formats, can be played in Adobe Reader without any additional software Import of CAD drawings in U3D format, can be turned etc. in Adobe Reader Comments in PDF can be imported into FrameMaker, existed already in FM 9, but possibly improved SharePoint integration Display of XML tags not only in structure view but also in document view DITA 1.2 Structured template designer WYSIWYG manipulation of rw rules document ExtendScript, similar to FrameScript, but I was told that it is more difficult to learn, more of a programming language --- Everything worked seamlessly (which could be expected in a good presentation). RJ Jacquez said that we can expect the release in some months. More to follow as we begin to get official approval on what can be said by the beta testers.
